I have been reading this blog for about a year now, but this is my first post. I'm hoping this hasn't already been posted. Tate Forcier looked pretty good from the little it shows.
Spring Scrimmage Video
V smith is going to be pretty good. We are pretty loaded at the RB position this year even though McGuffie left.
V smith and fitz Toussaint. Does anyone else agree with me that Tate is the second coming of jesus? =D
Denard The Baptist. everyone will be True Blue when they are done
I hope Tate is all that, we'll see. I look for Denard to show something too. V Smith, Fitz, some guys from the previous class; slowly Coach Rod is getting his kind of players in here...
Tate looked really good in those practice clips. He throws a very catchable ball and leads the receiver nicely. That was the best video I've seen this spring.
I've only watched two passes so far, but the one that is really promising to me is the one where he steps up in the pocket, considers running for a split second, then throws an eight yard pass to Odoms. That play seemed reminiscent of the play-making ability of Jeff Garcia. Not to say Tate's anywhere near that, and I know it's practice, but Threet or Sheridan would've been sacked on that play last year, or, would have run 2 yards and fumbled.
Tate did look pretty sharp in the videos. Like film, it's tough to judge but I like what he was doing. I loved the play where he scrambled right and threw a bullet into the corner of the endzone (only to have it knocked away). Still, things are looking decent.
But man, he is small. Based on the video, there were some nice plays. V. Smith could very well see the field this year and Minor looked like the Minor Rage of old, except on that poorly-blocked read handoff. All in all, the best video from Spring practice.
I have a feeling that we will see a new level of RAGE this year.
poorly blocked. he was supposed to pull it and run but from what i can tell he was told not to run.
...he's the same height as Drew Brees and Chase Daniel, isn't he? He'll add 10 pounds before the opener. He'll be okay.
be what, 175? (by appearance anyway)
was at practice yesterday....he made throws Threet or Sheridan didnt make all last year. that being said he also made a couple of bad ones got picked twice. he has some quicks as well but he better be shifty because he is tiny.
i'd think tate were 5'5 or something
what's up Boz
So are we all going to pretend like we didn't see the nice throws the Coner made?
If that's the case, I'll play along, but let me get it out there, he made some nice throws.
Coner = nice throws.
Word, I saw that. Interesting to see how they didn't include any bad plays from the practice in the video.
I got excited when one of the polls showed 9% of the nation has Cone at starter (fingers crossed)
This is the second vid in which I saw Minor do something that made me pretty excited. Kind of moist.
In this one he drags a few defenders into the endzone, they look wetpapertowelish
In the other, the Wolverine drill, he has the last defender beat but the guy catches his leg so he starts stomping like a freaking bull or something and the dude on his leg looks like seaweed wrapped around his ankle
I can't wait, i just can't
I know the QBs aren't live yet, but Tate is still holding the ball out when he runs (granted, it was just the one run) instead of tucking it. He's gonna scare the piss out of me.
when everyone was talking about how fast avery horn was looking, and he got exactly how much PT in the fall?
Are you saying that Tate isn't going to see the field this year? Thanks for the solid contribution.
Imagine that. A mid-level redshirt freshman losing playing time to a handful of juniors and a couple highly rated freshmen? Yep. Point proven. He must not have been fast because he didn't get much playing time.
I think he just meant Avery Horn was the star of the spring game last year, but got zero playing time (applies more to V. Smith than Tate here). And while they get you pumped up and excited for the upcoming season, clips from spring practices and spring games are difficult to evaluate for most of us...so we should curb our enthusiasm. Basically he's just being a Debbie Downer, because we all know we're going to dominate this year.
If I remember correctly, that was more because the guys in front of him were injured than he played better than other good players. Avery Horn is a good enough player that we he gets the spotlight, he can play well. But he looked the best because the other good backs didn't play. Completely different situation.
Debbie Downer is hot
