An excerpt from a Denver Post article:
"We can put our chests out and be proud," said George Perles, Michigan State's football coach from 1983-94 and now a university trustee. "Take a school like Michigan State, a Big Ten school more known for football than basketball, to win a national championship in their backyard? You'll see green and white around here for years to come."
More known for football? Is he just lying about their football history so that sport can get a little glory from this Final Four?
And what about Izzo's recent comment that he wants to show the nation who "THE university in Michigan" is? Doesn't that remind you of Joe Pesci's troubled character in Goodfellas?
I understand they are both drunk with excitement, but the psychology behinds those comments is evident. No one other than the most dellusional State fan would even entertain those thoughts. I thought coaches were supposed to be more dignified.
How can I be expected to root for these guys when they remind me of a fat kid trying to lick the inside of a potato chip bag to suck out every laste taste of something good?
It's just sad....
