Somewhat OT - The Spring Game and my curse

I've mentioned it before, but just to preface this post, I am cursed. The only two games I've been to are App St and Toledo this past season, which are the likely two biggest upsets in the history of Michigan's program. My friends refuse to go with me to anymore games, citing that I'm cursed. I enjoy going, though (minus the whole losing to 1-5 MAC teams thing), and I feel I need a way to break the curse.

Would it count if I went to the spring game? After all, Michigan can't technically lose that game since they're playing themselves. That makes sense, right?

...and by that, I mean helter-skelter, willy-nilly and putt-putt!

I'm pretty sure my curse is just related to them losing to inferior opponents, though, so we should be good.

Don't feel bad I have only been to 3 games. #1 2006 against Vanderbilt, we won #2 App. State, we lost #3 Utah we lost. Some of my buddies joked and said that I should call Tressel and see if he would pay me to go to all of the games so that we would lose every one of them.

Unfortunately yes. I live over 1,000 miles away so a quick trip into AA is not really an option for me. Opening week is always on Memorial Day weekend so my son only has to miss one day of school and I make sure to take my vacation that week. I spend more on that one game (by the time I pay for travel and hotel) than I would on season tix if I lived in the area. I hate living so far away from my team but my work is here and the economy there sucks so I am stuck here for now. I hope to move back to the area in a few years but who knows.

One of my friends left during the 2004 Michigan-Michigan State game in the fourth quarter. Of course, Michigan made the miraculous comeback.

This season, after the Wisconsin win, I emailed him and asked whether he stopped watching in the middle of the third quarter. He said that he had.

So, two conclusions: (1) My friend is kind of a lousy fan, and (2) it's easy to see how superstitions develop.

Luckily for me, I was at the 2003 U-M/OSU game; otherwise, I am 0-2 and would be afraid of ever attending The Game.

I'm 0-4 in bowl games... I was really close to going to the CapOne bowl the other year but I decided not to last minute and look what happened... I've banned myself from going to future bowl games (for now at least)

You're 8-8 in home games? That's pretty bad luck given that up until the last two years, we had won an extremely high percentage of our home games. I had student tickets for five years (1998-2002), and saw us go 26-4. (I did have the misfortune to miss '97 by one year, though.)

8-8 at home is terrible luck. I hit the 03-04-05-06 seasons as a student and only saw 3 home losses, all in 05.

I'm 2-5 in the last 7 games I've gone to, I've witnessed App. State, Utah, Illinois, Lloyds last game against OSU and the first Charlie Weis game against Michigan where Chad Henne realized Braylon was gone. The OSU game was the worst not only because we lost to OSU, but because the game was super boring. The only wins I have ever witnessed are two Eastern games a Wisconsin game a few years back and Purdue two years ago.

For all Notre Dame home games I have attended in person, ND is 4-0 and always in dramatic fashion. I hate South Bend.

2001 vs. Pitt: ND comes in 0-3 and the Bob Davie Era is obviously going to be over (so I am real excited to go watch the Irish lose) and yet they win 24-7 and i watch all the ND fans go nuts.

2002 vs. UM: This was the "Phantom Touchdown" year with Carlyle Holiday(?) I think.

2004 vs. UM: Well we all knew this wasn't going to go well with a Freshman Henne and no running back.

2008 vs. UM: Somehow, all the fumbles came before 3 feet of rain dropped on us. Awesome.

Actually, I should go post this on BGS or another Domer site and see if anyone will pay me to go there. On second thought, NOT worth it.

M is 154-39-1 overall records in games I've attended but only 9-10 in the last 19 games. I'll get to my 200th game this year!
