so i'm back from the game and wanted to share my opinions for the flaming of
others.
first off, god we're terrible. for reasons unknown to me i drive from
grand rapids to ann arbor to get stabbed in the eyes with pure terror.
I'm going to be especially hard on the team because we lost to a one win Mac
school, a school that got blown out by arizona, FIU, and ball state.
Offense:
at the start of the year rich said that he would adapt the offense to the
team, the qb didn't have to be a running qb. I’ve seen signs of OMG
threet is the man!!! and OMG does he have his contacts in?!?! his strong point
has seemed to be the deep ball, he'll over throw a screen and then hit a guy 20
yards down the field. i understand that the spread is like a fast version
of the west coast offense (fucking lions) so there are a lot of short passes
and your people have to get YAC to make things look right. the problem is
that he hasn't gone away from the short passes that we can't compete with and
mixed in some longer passes that may help us move the ball. the opposing
defense knows what we're going to do, are we predictable?? there were a
few times where toledo (F-ING TOLEDO!!!) blew our screens up in the backfield
because they knew what was coming...seriously toledo (F-ING TOLEDO!!!) if
we at least threatened the deep ball it may keep the defense honest when we run
screens, right now they're selling out and blowing us up.
obviously i didn't know that threet was hurt when i was at the game, but he
has NO rhythm when he is running the offense.
he looks slow and confused out there.
when he’s running the offense it looks like the slowest no huddle ever, i
swear it looks slower than if we actually huddled. sheridan came in and the offense looked like
it was a cohesive unit and actually moved the ball, the problem was that when
he needed to throw my heart stopped, not because of what happened today, but
earlier in the year. i know everyone
says that feagin isn’t ready to play, but if we’re not going to throw the ball
over 5 yards, why not put feagin in and let him run. sheridan was basically running the wing T out
there.
on the funny side when minor lined up on the field the guy behind me goes “finally,
they need to give minor the ball” to which i responded “yeah we haven’t had a
fumble all game” and what happens?!?!? fumble city, good thing he made it in
the endzone.
Defense:
OMG trent can’t cover. i have decided
that he can’t back peddle, he has to turn his head and find the ball and then turn
his back to it and catch up to the receiver, while booboo can just back peddle
and look fantastic. what the hell took
so long to get booboo in the game?!?! it took an injury to get him some playing
time, and he looked great.
it seemed like we were playing a lot of zone coverage because they’re
receivers (#1!!) were always open like 5 yeard down the field with two guys
behind them. what’s the point of having
two defenders behind the receivers??
i think our defense is allergic to 3 and outs
the guy that sits behind me is a very rational guy that typically doesn’t
call for anyone’s head (other than hermann), but he was calling for shafer’s
after this game. i sort of agree.
i get that we only have up 6 point on defense and one was playing with a short field, but our defense doesn’t wake up
until the other team has driven 30 or 40 yards.
the lack of 3 and outs allows the other team to control the clock and
keep out potent (HA!) offense on the bench.
we’re bending but not breaking, but god are we bending a long way.
special teams:
did anyone notice that the long snapper from Toledo had to arc the ball to
get it to the punter?? it was hilarious. zoltan...ZOLTAN!!! enough said.
Rodriguez said "I'm just extremely disappointed and embarrassed”,
me and you both…me and you both.it seems like we're getting worse as the season goes on, not better
before the game starts we have a montage that goes and people say “We are
Michigan”, no we’re not, “we are 2007 notre dame”
