It seems like the rumors have taken a turn for the worse. I had earlier reported that McGuffie was staying, and it seems like his mind has changed. After confirming with three different sources it seems that Sam McGuffie has requested, and is leaning towards transferring from The University of Michigan. This is not final or official, as I am assuming the coaches will talk to him, have him go home for break and think about it. Often times kids will think about it and change their mind. My sources have told me that the cold weather factored in, he requested to move to slot receiver, and had some sort of problem getting along with other teammates. As I said, we will not know for sure if he officially is gone until after the season, but as for now he has told Fred Jackson, and the coaches that he would like to transfer. We will keep you updated on when we know if he decides to stay or go.
Well, I'll try and put a silver lining on this.. as much as this sucks and feels like the ultimate pile on to this season, with Minor/Brown/Shaw coming back, Toussaint coming in, this is probably the one position we could afford a transfer.
Hope you change your mind, Sam. But good luck to you.
This news makes me sick to my stomach.
this is no good.
So you're refering to Sam - am + heridan right?
Hopefully he is making his decision for the right reasons. If so, then good luck where ever he goes.
So I guess this means that we lack familiy values correct?
Nope. Didn't need this.
Who else wants out? This could easily provide cover for other disgruntled folks to peace out. Not to mention current recruiting....FUCK.
If he transfers, he transfers.
he's 19 years old and away from home for the first time.
I wish him well at what must be a difficult time for him ( and his family ).
Good luck, Sam; take some time and make the right decision.
I just threw up in my mouth. BAD TASTE. BADDERTASTE.
This is an old story. Jon Ritchie; Jon Vaughn; Trevor Pryce; Justin Fargas; Ryan Mallet; Jason Forcier; David Bowens (a rare Michigan native); William Peterson; there must be more.
One of Michigan's handicaps is that this is a place where it's cold and dark too much of the year. The weather conditions for ND and NW did more harm than just make those games lotteries. Ann Arbor is far from home for Californians, Texans and Floridians. There are no small number of non-athletes who condescend to the athletes. I don't know what the girl situation is, but have heard stories of athletes going to the EMU campus area. Anthony Carter almost went home his first year; Bo sent assistants to the airport where they found him.
Columbus isn't a lot better weather-wise, but Ohio high school football is a LOT better than Michigan's, and those kids grow up dreaming of wearing Scarlet & Gray. To a Sam McGuffie, Charles Woodson, much less Bo, is before his time.
To be fair, didn't Petersen "transfer" after accruing a rap-sheet that compared to the devil incarnate? Bowens too?
Tom, can you tell us why he asked to be moved to the slot? IIRC he wasn't interested in any schools recruiting him as a receiver.
Sorry I didn't see this. I have no idea. No one knows the extent of that conversation. I'll try to figure out more, but I think everyone's pretty annoyed talking about it now.
I know Fred Jackson was a big reason Sam ended up coming to Michigan after the coaching change. Now Fred calls him out publicaly and Sam wants to switch positions?
There's not a lot I can say here. But, think about the last time Fred Jackson ever called out a running back in public, and what that means. How he feels.
Does anyone remember the last time Fred Jackson called out a running back? What was the deal?
I meant that as, I don't remember the last time Fred called someone out, as in I don't think he's done it. Maybe he has, but I don't remember it. So for him to do something like that is not good.
