This is a gut punch. I am shook. Between him getting put in hospice care and how zonked he looked when Kerridge and Bolden delivered the game ball, the writing was on the wall. It just isn't easy. My heart is with the Carr family.

Being a father of 3 young kids and a 4th soon to be delivered, I don't even want to think of the pain the family is going through.   No parent should have to experience such pain and loss.   My heart is absolutely crushed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of those in a similar situation.

As a father of 3 children under the age of 9, this picture rips my heart out.  I hope family and friends are able to find peace through the strength they have exhibited through this sad journey.

Not sure how to make sense of this.

I don't know if these messages in any way might help how the Carr family is feeling, but in case they do, I too offer my deepest condolences.

So terrible to think about losing a child and the promise of that life being taken away.  I really, really wish there weren't sick children and I hope the Carr family knows how many sympathize with their pain.

RIP Chad...you deserve a nice rest after such a long and valiant fight. I pray he and his family understand how many people's lives his fight and spirit have and will continue to touch.

It's incomprehensible to imagine being a parent and  losing a child to fucking cancer at the age of 5. One of the cruelest things on this earth is childhood cancer. Fuck cancer.

Cannot say that enough. Fuck. Cancer.

RIP, Chad. Condolences to the Carr family.

This would have affected me in the past.  But now that I have kids, and two boys about Chad's age, this hits me extremely hard.

Prayers to the family, and all other families that have to endure this.

if you have kids, give them a little extra long hug tonight (and every other)

Call your Mother and tell her you love her (Dad too)

if you are in an argument with a friend, squash it. Dont worry about who is right

That poor baby. His poor family. Not ashamed to admit Im a little misty right now (my son is about the same age). Just terrible.

simply awful.  I hope they get some strength and solace from the community with which they shared their little guy, and that they have happy memories of the time they had with him.

You have no idea how many lives you've touched over the course of your fight!  Hug your loved ones tonight everyone, our time on this Earth is finite.

Hail to Chad, always a victor valiant and conquering hero!

Prayers to the Carr family and to all of those families going through similar circumstances.  I'm glad the Michigan family was able to shed light on his story and hopefully aid to the fight against this awful disease.

My mom has been an oncology nurse for 30 years- I've heard so many similar stories and it's getting really old! Screw Cancer! No family should ever have to go through something like this.

Peace to everyone.  The Carr Family.  The Michigan Family.  Our rivals who shared in our sadness.  Everyone on this Board.

For those of you who are not parents, but one day will be, remember this feeling, as times will be tough, but hopefully, never this tough.

Sincere and complete props to Michigan State and Ohio State for all the well-wishes and class they showed - and may we never ever ever have the opportunity to return the favor because no parents anywhere should ever have to endure burying their child.

Such a sad picture. As a father this just hurts the soul. The absolute worst thing a parent could ever go through. If you have kids around Chad's age you can't help but think, what if it where my son. Thanks to the Carr for sharing Chad's story and light with the rest of the world. Rest in peace little guy, forever #Chadtough
