Knowing that something is going to happen doesn't make it any easier. Best wishes to his family in their time of grief. Also, thanks to OSU and MSU for their kindness towards him and his family. I'm glad he got to have that early Christmas. Still a sad day though.

Even though I've seen a lot of tragedy as an ER doc, I remember the loss of every young life as vividly as if it happened yesterday.

There are no words for such sorrow.

Can only hope the gathering of family in the upcoming holidays brings some measure of comfort to the Carrs. Prayers for the family and that tough little youngster.

Ugh...knowing a little what this family is going thru, this hurts a bit. I'm glad he had so much support going thru this and it is at least somewhat comforting knowing he is no longer suffering. RIP Chad.

this just sucks.  my daughter is 5, and 3 years ago we had a scare where a week long hospital stay was almost diagnosed as cancer for her.  Luckily it wasn't, but this hits really close to home for me.

Regardless of who you root for, we all rooted for this kid.  5 year olds should be playing in the snow, writing letters to santa, making new friends in school, not having to deal with this.

Shine on in Heaven little guy. We'll be praying for your family.

I'm damn near tears now. That picture is heartbreaking and wonderful at the same time.

Oh no.
I hope that picture was on a better day than today. I'm not very religious, but God bless the Carr family and continue to give them the amazing strength they have had all this time.
With two young ones of my own I don't know how they did it. I'm tearing up just writing this.

I highly doubt it was of the moment it happened.  More likely a picture to show him being held.  The clue is probably that the dad is able to even move of his own free will.

Even if I'm wrong I'm not holding one single choice they're making right now up to any criticism.

I'm really feeling sad right now. Heartbreaking.

I cannot imagine how his parents and family must feel today.

Prayers and love to them from all.

The white balloon up in the corner of the ceiling. The light shining through that glass.

RIP Chad.
