By Rights We Should Have To Play There
never heard of it
The University of Michigan football program will open the 2014 season with a match-up against Appalachian State University on Aug. 30 at Michigan Stadium. This will be the second [sic] meeting between the Wolverines and Mountaineers at Michigan Stadium.
Sorry about that error in the second sentence above. Michigan has never played Appalachian State.
If you'll excuse me, I feel like having a seizure.
I am incapable of finding it myself, but if anyone can locate a .gif of Dustin Hoffman freaking out in Rain Man while screaming the dialogue above and simultaneously hitting himself, greatly appreciated. And, I think, relevant to ALL our interests on this day of days.
People are looking at scheduling App State state as a negative when in fact.....um... well I guess there is no positive side to this.
Who has the face-palm photos?
Brandon just divided by zero
So if they beat us again, it's OK because they'd be FBS?
I absolutely cannot believe this is happening.
Is the Hoke's way of showing us that he "get's it"?
It's Dave Brandon attempting to avenge his boy Lloyd's epic fail.
That is how the war in Iraq started...
Fuck the "no politics" rule, that's hilarious.
Firing Lloyd because he wasn't supporting Rich enough to Lloyd becoming his "boy".
is that they will not have to face Denard Robinson, as that should be their punishment.
Is it just me, or does this not reek of a classic Dave Brandon ego-stoking maneuver?
who are we really playing?
... this is the one that made the most sense?
Who else nearly pooped at this headline? Surely not just me.
Boo Hoo OSU fans are going to make fun of us. Are you guys serious? Not sure why everyone is going crazy.
Well I totally took the bait on that too. I don't think it's OSU fans everyone is worried about, it's your own fans/former players making fun of you that causes your coaches to get fired.
than the way OSU coaches seem to get dismissed. By either A) punching a player in the throat or B) acting like you have no clue what is going on inside the program and then lying about it
Must have asbestos wear please.
Great. The run up to that game will be really fun, with the Fuck you Johnny Sears and the Edwards running free and the Crable no playing on an endless loop.
Can anyone devise a rational explanation of how this happened?
I bet their AD's been calling three times a week since 2007. Brandon finally caved.
Now I won't be able to turn on sports radio or ESPN for pretty much all of August 2014. And if by some miracle we should lose, everyone should be fired.
This makes me feel queasy from three years out!

I don't see why people are so against this. M will (hopefully) be very good with a RS Senior Devin Gardner at QB and will win big. And unlike any of the other 1-AA teams, this game will get HUGE publicity.
Its a win-win for MI. They get to play a bad team, but still get credit and publicity for winning.
I'm waiting for your description of how Michigan losing the game is a "win" because that is how the term "win-win" works.
What are you, new?
No no, I beleive he's... "knew"
Wasn't there talk that RS Senior Devin Gardner would have to sit the first few games because he played as a true frosh?
I thought things were looking bad on the prospect of Devin ever being an RS anything.
...since Michigan last beat App State.
Wouldn't that be undefined, instead?
Thanks Dave Brandon.
I now get to look forward to reliving "The Horror" throughout Summer, 2014 in preparation for this game. My shrink will be naming his next boat Brandon's Choice by the time he's done.
Someone sick and twisted must have done this. Do we get more money by playing them or something? The money angle is all I can figure.
-High publicity Home Opener
-Team we should beat
-I was out of the country and missed the first meeting, what happened?
Not wanting the media to punch me in the nuts for at least month before this game does not make me a pussy, it makes me a rational person.
Agreed. It's not that we're afraid of losing, it's that there is nothing to gain when we win.
We get to relive the Horror in the media for three months, and then when we win and get our "revenge", the response will be "big deal, it's what you should have done the first time".
What if you were to ask a member of the 2007 team how they'd feel about this? You really think they're OK with what happened?
Hell, Mike Hart probably wanted to play App State the next day. We've got to even the score against these guys. It doesn't matter what the national media thinks. We need to do it for ourselves.
Thank you MGoShoe. You are now my favorite person on this blog.
You have a burning desire to see that field goal block 1000 times that week? It's kind of like the division names, why subject yourself to irritating press intentionally?
