2007 and 2008 have obviously brought down the confidence of the Michigan football supporter. I bring up history to give you all something to be optimistic about for 2009.
Take about 10 minutes and read the Utah UFR, located here:
Notice what you read constantly in the play reviews: horrible offensive line play, missed blocks, Sheridan's awful passes, a non-existent running game, Threet's inability to run, Utah's complete lack of respect for the QB run, no use of the TE. Also notice that Brian mentioned on a couple of occasions that had the QBs made the correct reads, incompletes would have been 20+ yard plays, or even touchdowns.
By the end of the year, the O-line was competent, the running game worked. Now, we have a QB who is accurate, and can run. We know the other incoming QB has speed to burn and will probably play. The TEs are being integrated better into the offense (Oklahoma this spring?) We have a lot more talent on the roster, and there is 12 more months of Barwis.
Bottom line - for all the horrible offensive play that we witnessed in the Utah game, we lost by 2 points to an undefeated team. There is reason to be optimistic about this offense in 2009.
Also, as an added bonus for those of you who recently read BlueSeoul's criticism of Odoms, and my retort, you'll notice the first comment on the UFR is from ..... BlueSeoul.....and he's criticizing Odoms. Unintentional humor!
