Professional Hottie Says Tate To Transfer
UPDATE: Professional hottie's tweet has disappeared. You can safely ignore the below, I think.
Um… so this person…
…has a twitter that says this:
Very reliable source telling me Tate Forcier requested a transfer from #Michigan this AM. NOT yet confirmed, will update as I know more.
I'd link it but I'm getting fail whales and am suffused with an overwhelming ennui.
Not to disparage smoking hot bikini models or anything, but I'd probably take Mike Rothstein's word over hers. Then again she has done some sideline work for the Big Ten Network—the entire reason this is credible enough to bother with—and Rothstein is not banging out strenuous denials and this is Michigan post-Bo so it's probably true and all she left out its that he's hiring someone to bash Denard's knee in, Tonya Harding style.

What a relief -- DEFCON 2.
August 18th, 2010 at 9:38 PM ^
Mike Forcier, Tate's dad, laughed at the transfer rumors. Said they aren't true, and he wouldn't support it anyways.
Unfortunately the " Tate Forcier is genetically predisposed to transfering " BS just won't die. I trust TomVH's sources a little more than little miss blondie's.
August 18th, 2010 at 9:36 PM ^
This is where I don't like the information at our fingertips...someone says something you don't like and you are forced to wonder and waste time worrying about it...yeah she's hot, but all it takes is a quote with "reliable source"...yeah yeah.. I'm sure Tate is pleased with the wingless helmet talk and now this...keep it up and he will be gone.
I'm sure Dorsey is still shaking his head at us.
August 18th, 2010 at 9:45 PM ^
Problem is that there are precisely zero consequences associated with doing something like this. It'd be one thing if it was some random person. But this woman is, apparently, using her association with the Big Ten Network to break potentially significant news. It turns out to be fake, and I bet nothing happens to her.
August 18th, 2010 at 10:48 PM ^
I'm sure Dorsey is still shaking his head at us.
Maybe Dorsey is glad he's away from the craziness that the Michigan rumor mill is becoming.
August 18th, 2010 at 9:39 PM ^
really been too much
August 18th, 2010 at 9:42 PM ^
Via TomVH
"Mike Forcier also told me he hasn't talked to Tate, and that would be a big decision to make without talking to his dad first."
August 18th, 2010 at 9:46 PM ^
And it's drafty and I'm cold and Wolves are chasing me.
August 18th, 2010 at 9:52 PM ^
Tate is not going to do that without talking to his Dad, who would probably flatten his skull if he did, and the first person we hear it from is NOT going to be Hottie McHotterson more than 12 hours after the fact.
August 18th, 2010 at 9:46 PM ^
looks like I left the posbang a little too early.
August 18th, 2010 at 9:47 PM ^
This was almost a huge buzzkill.
August 18th, 2010 at 10:04 PM ^
Saved the buzz?
August 18th, 2010 at 9:49 PM ^
this woman will be up there with Herbstreit on the All-Time Disinformation Sh*tlist.

Hmm - ex-Ohio State QB sends mgo community into a loop. ex-Penn State hottie sends mgo community into a tizzy. Both get increased media attention as a result.
August 18th, 2010 at 9:54 PM ^
The first thing that ran through my mind was "Sweet Christ, he's going to OSU." I have no doubt in my mind that's where he would have ended up. As a Packers fan, the Favre nightmares would return in a much more cruel way.
August 18th, 2010 at 9:58 PM ^
Somehow, I don't think she will lose any credibility.
August 18th, 2010 at 10:01 PM ^
If it can be proven she Twittered this as an attention whoring stunt to get her name out here, I'm buying out the entire inventory at Ann Arbor Torch and Pitchfork. The fact you look good in a bikini will not save you from the wrath of this fan base.
August 18th, 2010 at 10:18 PM ^
She's picked up dozens of new followers, and all the ones at the top of her list (the most recent) are Michigan fans, looks like.
August 18th, 2010 at 10:06 PM ^
we got PWN'ed on the internets

August 18th, 2010 at 10:39 PM ^
FIRE HER FROM THE BTN!!!
August 18th, 2010 at 10:49 PM ^
make her work with Pam Ward.
August 18th, 2010 at 10:54 PM ^
Now you're just being cruel. ; )
August 19th, 2010 at 6:46 AM ^
Pam Ward is HOT!!!!
August 18th, 2010 at 10:53 PM ^
You know, if these rumors do ultimately turn out to be false (which I think they will be), then she does deserve to get kicked off the BTN. I'd be curious to know what her "reliable source" is, too.
August 18th, 2010 at 11:14 PM ^
She should be fired not for posting false information, but for being surprised that rumors of Tate transferring would generate a huge reaction among college football fans. If you don't understand the most basic facts about your customers, you need fo find a new job.
August 19th, 2010 at 8:45 AM ^
She knew exactly what she was doing.
Her tweets - well she is a budding (or maybe aspiring) Paris Hilton or something. She's on the entire mgocommunity's radar screen now, and wasn't before ...
August 18th, 2010 at 10:48 PM ^
It was one of the "Big Ten Tailgate" features for BTN. I thought she was hot. I still think she's hot.
Hot, and dumb, and credulous, and deluded and careless.
She should meet me for a drink, and discuss some better sources for information in Ann Arbor.
(Slightly more seriously, but not too seriously since she really doesn't merit it, I think she got engaged to an NHL player. Am I mistaken about that? Do I have a chance, when we get together for that drink, or not? I do not want to drop the gloves with somebody in the NHL. She's not that hot.)
August 18th, 2010 at 10:56 PM ^
I think my love with Michigan football this week can be summed up in the words of Matt Groening...
"Love is a snowmobile racing across the tundra and then suddenly it flips over, pinning you underneath. At night, the ice weasels come."
August 18th, 2010 at 11:04 PM ^
I have never wanted a football game to get here in my life like I want UCONN. This off the field gunk has officially defeated me.
I can't even find myself to think this girl is even decent looking.
That's how bad it's gotten.
August 18th, 2010 at 11:07 PM ^
So a chick got fired for wearing the wrong hat to a press conference this week. Not a week to spread unsubstantiated rumors.
August 18th, 2010 at 11:09 PM ^
Tomorrow when I'm more alert and cogent, BTN and Brandon are getting an angry email over this.
August 19th, 2010 at 7:03 AM ^
angry emails please post them and the responses especially brandons...
August 18th, 2010 at 11:09 PM ^
Remember a few days ago when you were bemused at how quiet the off season has been? Now you're drinking Cointreu and putting eye candy on the main page.
To paraphrase kenny rogers, there's time to count the money when the deal is done. I have friends who wont let me speak during games due to past transgressions testing fate. Never taunt the quiet offseason again.
Seriously, though, who the fuck was her source, Jeff Defran or something. Or Maizeman? Give me a break.
August 18th, 2010 at 11:47 PM ^
I'm done with threads about this, but seriously, what is it about pre-season camp under Rodriguez. I'll give them a pass the first year--the fevered speculation was mainly due to the implementation of a new offense and a who the hell is going to play QB level of terror. Last year, we still had the QB issue to deal with, a 3-9 season, and then the practice violations came along. I'm not rehashing the past couple days, but the fear was even beforehand.
Seriously, can I get put in a coma for a while?
August 19th, 2010 at 8:50 AM ^
I think it is because he never definitively declares a starter. So the whole season is filled with speculation. I know he does it to make each person on the team more competitive, but most people out there can't seem to handle an uncertain world. So that fuels speculation and snooping ...
August 18th, 2010 at 11:13 PM ^
this woman is just flat out evil to do this to us. Doesn't she know what we have been thru?.Geez
August 18th, 2010 at 11:41 PM ^
I think professional hottie should stick to being a swimsuit model, she is obviously very good at it. However, she does not belong on the Big Ten Network or any other TV station pretending like she is an acutual journalist.
She needs to keep her mouth shut, wear bikinis, and continue to look spectacular.

From her twitter feed:
My mistake on letting you all in on something I was told today. I did not "report" or "confirm" this information. Simply shared what a source within UM told me and I shouldn't have tweeted it without confirmation. Wasn't trying to start an uproar.
http://twitter.com/Melanie_Collins
If you find yourself confused as to the journalistic distinction between "reporting" and "letting us in" and "sharing" you're probably not alone.
August 18th, 2010 at 11:50 PM ^
she's not even with BTN anymore. so apparently a source "within UM" randomly decided to tell NOT sharp, NOT rosenberg, NOT Valenti, NOT Sam Webb, NOT the Michigan Daily, NOT MGoBlog, NOT College Football Live on ESPN but the girl who wore a bikini who's been in the business for 2 years a monumental transfer story that most of us had no idea existed except perhaps "did you see that girl who was in a bikini? no not that one. no not her. no, she doesn't have red hair. yah, c-o-l-l-i-n-s. yah, google that. yah her"
possible? yes.
likely? no.
August 18th, 2010 at 11:55 PM ^
I don't even know her, but I can't stand her. Her tweets are ridiculously smug.
August 18th, 2010 at 11:57 PM ^

August 19th, 2010 at 12:20 AM ^
wow. Who does she tweet about her great life, herself?
August 19th, 2010 at 1:15 AM ^
...screams somebody, anybody, validate me. Please!
August 19th, 2010 at 12:05 AM ^
Her twitter feed says she's back with BTN in the fall to host Friday Night Tailgate and as a sideline reporter:
http://twitter.com/Melanie_Collins/status/20908576196
Otherwise, agree with everything above.
Since she's doing journalism-type things for BTN, I'm having a very, very hard time accepting the "sharing" and "letting you in on something I heard" vs. I didn't confirm it and I wasn't "reporting." If she doesn't know what's wrong with simply passing along a rumor, given her capacity as a BTN employee (even a seasonal one), she shouldn't be working at BTN.
August 19th, 2010 at 12:10 AM ^
Between telling Sharp or Rosenberg or Valenti, or her...I can think of a couple of reasons to choose her.
August 18th, 2010 at 11:56 PM ^
We should have known. Because when Melanie Collins really wants to start an "uproar," this is what she does:
August 19th, 2010 at 12:50 AM ^
If she's a reporter, she just hears this information, and la-da I'll throw it out there but not follow up? Wouldn't you jump on this pretty gd big story and be working all day to confirm it? Did she have to go tanning?
This, with all the other evidence, is enough for me to sleep tonight. It all points to bullshit. I was very excited earlier to hear positive news (secondhand on the board) on Tate's attitude. But I'll still have an echo in the back of my head until the team confirms it's all BS tmw
So since that's a pain in the ass to Michigan, someone at the school should be ligting up BTN's front office tmw, who in turn will let Pretty Penn State Pants know she should take the job a little more seriously
