Points Note Comment Count

Brian

This has been happening for a couple weeks now and I've gotten enough email about it to provide a front-page explanation: points have started to expire, which they do after a year. This is not functionality I put in intentionally but I might keep it around since it seems to make sense. But that's what's happening. If you get a snarky email about losing super powers but haven't done anything to warrant it, that's what's going on.

A comment revamp is coming and I don't want to touch anything on the site until that's up and going, so please bear with us.

So, does that mean they will lose their negative points?  Well, that's basically de-trolling the trolls.  The terrorists win.  What Would Stanzi Do?

On a separate note, how does one get neg-bombed enough to accumulate almost 10,000 negative points?  It's like MidnightBlue knows just the right buttons to push to drive you nuts.  Mind you, I only want to know... because it's... for a friend.

But to answer your question, I'm guessing he used the word that will go unnamed....which, actually, has to do with your school.  But shall go unsaid.  Unless you want the NEG Hammer from up above to come down.  He's actually probably UP 29 points from there...

Suggestions:

  1. Every year, on the day Fall practice begins, post the current top ten point totals (maybe excluding front-pagers?). Include a link to the previous year, and brief notes on any changes to how points were handled (for the MGoHistorians).
  2. Instead of having people go down to zero, halt point attrition at twenty. That way, people who have earned the ability to post threads can always drop back in to immediately post something newsworthy if they come across it, without having to go through the waiting period again.

I was going to buy a Winnebago and retire to Florida on the points I worked so hard to accumulate. MGoBlog owes it to us to follow up on its fiduciary obligations. Where's Paul Volcker when you need him?

Thank God!  I thought I was losing points because:

A.  I was apparently bashing LC yesterday

b.  I thought Roger Moore was the best James Bond

oh wait...

Now I know why there has been so much useless blah blah blah comments posted, it's because bloggers are trying to raise their point levels in case they lose some points. That is sad. Before, I would only speak when I had something to say, but now I need to be like everyone else I guess...more blah.

Guy who hasn't even been here a year, who only has 51 points (as of this writing), fretting over teh points, teh points, teh points.  I guess you are being like everyone else then!  Please continue to acquire points by mindlessly posting drivel and getting hammered by the MGoCommunity, thus losing more MGoPoints than you would have had if you simply kept your keyboard shut.

Oh wait, how many points do I have?  Dammit!  (I almost wrote 'would of' above just as grammar nazi bait, but couldn't bring myself to it.)

This is a disaster.   Not only people's  MGoSelfEsteem but MGoCredibility will suffer.  What will we do?

Mr. Cook should have waited for 2012 for points to start expiring.   It would have fit the whole end-of-the-world theme much better :)

Meet at the MGoBoard at midnight!  We must throw off our shackles and demand the MGoPoints that are rightfully ours!
