I like it. A cheap contract for 1 year. Who else could we get who would be better and fit under the cap. What do you guys think?
Pistons Bring Back Big Ben
Should I put my Big Ben poster back up? I also didn't get rid of my Big Ben shirt, but it's been buried in my dresser for a few years.
You should totally put it back up. Hell, buy more of them. Im not going to get may hair cut untill the NBA finals and Im going to try and bring back the White-guy Afro.
FROM VIRGINIA UNION UNIVERSITY...BA BA BA BA BEN.......WAALLLACEEEEEEEEEE
just so I can hear the pregame. I love it.
I do not like it, he's been flirting with retirement, he's too old, and his ass is still full of splinters from Cleveland. Get someone who can contribute if you are going to pay them.
what number will he wear?
He needs to keep the same one so we can wear our old jerseys
Ben is done. Couldn't even get minutes over Sideshow Bob Varajao.
Why not spend the money on a younger player who might have some upside?
I know the remaining list of free agents is mostly scraps, but they could have done better.
Ben can only play when he has the loud bell going everytime he gets rebound. He didn't have that in chitown or clv.
You cant bring in a younger player because they wouldnt be able to fit under the cap. All Im expecting from him is to help against big guys, like Shaq now that he's in the division, and for him to get only 5 minutes a game. Hes lost alot but hes still a decent defender who has experience. Not bad for less then $2 mill a year
you say the free agents are mostly scraps. how could they have done better? now ben is not good anymore. but the dont need upside, they need someone who can play hard for 15 min a game. we know ben can play hard.
Although I agree that he is pretty much worthless on the court at this point in his career, at least he can hopefully retire a Piston.
We need somebody physical to play at the same time as Soft Charlie.
I wonder if he wishes he never left. It will be interesting to hear his comments.
I thought the reason we let him go was because he was old? I think the problem the pistons had was that they replaced him with a bunch of forwards. They never really got another big guy to shut down the middle.
The Pistons let him go not just because he was getting old, but because he was not worth the giant contract Chicago offered him.
It must be 2006-week in Detroit. First Jason Williams, now Ben Wallace.
The Tigers should re-sign Kenny Rogers to solidify their rotation.
We need a lefty bat. Bobby Higginson it is!
No thanks to that trend. If BMW shows up in a Lions uniform again I will throw rocks at Martin Mayhew.
I think he would have had to improve his entire offensive game - not just FT shooting. With the exception of ONE game ( where he was making jump shots ), he basically could only score if Mr.Big Shot spoon fed the ball to him under the basket with no one within 5 feet of him.
I can bring my authentic Ben Wallace jersey out of the cellar? Last jersey I ever bought. Once he left Detroit, I swore off purchasing player's jerseys.
Same here. I had Grant Hill, then Stackhouse, then Wallace and they all left within like 2 years of me getting the jersey.
I think you need some of that old toughness and commitment to defense in the locker room. Maxiel and Kwame definitely could learn a few tricks from Old Ben. There weren't any decent options available at that price for only a year, and I think the leadership is well worth it. If you get some passable minutes from him, that's great. In all honesty, I don't see the Pistons making many waves this year unless they can preemptively land one of the big free agents in a mid-season trade.
Retire his number when he retires.
He's definitely not the player he once was. Hopefully he can still contribute while mentoring some of the of the younger players like Brown and Maxiell. And if he doesn't pan out, he's only there for one year, so it's not like the Pistons are taking a huge risk.
