Reilly O'Toole in his formative years. They used to call him "Sneakers."

Do we know what the injury is? It looks like a knee ligament strain/minor ligament tear based on the brace:
IANAD, but I've seen that brace used to aid recovery from all kinds of knee injuries. If I'm right, I wouldn't call it a "precaution" so much as just efficient use of equipment. If you've got a knee brace that handles ZOMG TORN ACL TORN MCL BROKEN KNEECAP MOMMY HOLD ME injuries and still allows the knee to bend, why not just slap it on a mild strain until the tissue heals? There's a slight risk of compensation injury but I seriously doubt Hoke would abuse Kovacs' knee. We need this dude healthy for Ohio.
FWIW, I don't actually know what the problem is. I'm just sayin', don't panic.
Among other things, I'd assume that if the injury were bad, we'd have seen Marvin Robinson much earlier in the Illinois game.
I guess they don't have the "tuck" rule in college football? Nate's throwing arm has moved past his body by that point.
Serious question, actually. It's a controversial rule, but it actually makes more sense to have it in a league where instant replay isn't standard.
you can't really tell from the still image, but in a video replay you can see his arm get pushed into his helmet which forces the ball out, so I dont thing that rule would apply anyway.
I love that picture of JT Floyd. Beating cut blocks is something you see them practice in videos under Mattison, and it pays of with plays like that where the cut block is easily defeated and hardly matter. I cant remember any of that under our last DC. Not to mention every tackle was both forceful and wonderfully wrapped up. Mattison <3
Upchurch kind of sucks. Was Angela Cesere too expensive?
Who is that with "boobies!" on his wrist tape?
Ojemudia. His gloves have "53" written on them, and you can tell he has the same wristband/armband setup in other pictures. Funchess also had a "boobies!" bracelet.
I am just glad Dennis isn't wearning a Cincy jersey. That kid is going to really lift our special teams for years to come.
