Per an ESPN article, Tim Floyd has resigned as basketball coach of USC. This might be the first shockwave. He gives some bogus speech of not being able to bring it every night and what-not, but I have a feeling it's much much more than that. Sayonara buddy, and take good ol' Pete with ya'!
OT - Tim Floyd is Done
the wheels of justice grind slowly.
Must be really bad...
"Sayonara buddy, and take good ol' Pete with ya'!"
He is too successful, he must be cheating. Despite nothing ever coming to light that he knew of Bush's transgressions or any other violation for that matter, he is a definite scumbag and cheater. Get rid of him. Come on, you are a Michigan fan, you are better than that.
And what is there about having the opinion that Pete Carroll is dirty that makes one inferior to a "UM fan?"
I see the opinion that he cheats to be every bit as valid as the opinion that he doesn't cheat. And I certainly wouldn't play the "you're better than that" card on someone for having a dissenting opinion. After all, tolerance for the opinions of others can be said to be one of the most endearing and productive characteristics of intellect.
He either cheats or he doesn't. What can it hurt to call someone a cheat? It's just as valid an opinion as believing that a person is not a cheat, right?
For example, I could call you a single, middle aged, overweight malcontent that can only get sexually aroused by furiously masturbating to thoughts of other people's misery. This is just my opinion. It's every bit as valid as any contrary opinion, and you must be tolerant of my opinion.
Life is full of many journeys, Tater. I hope all of yours have happy endings.
Yes everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I would never say any differently. There is no proof of his cheating so why even have the dissenting opinion? My argument is that without proof a man is innocent until proven guilty, this goes for the law as well as for the running of a collegiate athletic program. PC and JT are innocent until proven guilty. You can have the opinion that they cheat. I'm not saying you can't or that the OP or you are fools for doing so. I am saying, "where is the proof." Without this proof I think a more INFORMED and NON-BIASED opinion would be that they are not cheaters. This is the opinion I would hope and expect for from a UM fan. Now in five months or five years pictures may surface of Jim Tressel handing Pryor the keys to an Escalade with the license frame "paid for by OSU boosters." If and when such event occurs (and I realize this is an extreme example, but you get the point) then you may proceed with the pointing of fingers and chants of cheater.
I'm not entirely sure where I called him a cheater or a scumbag. I would just be happy if he wasn't USC's coach anymore, that's all. And just b/c nothing's ever come to light yet doesn't mean it won't. There's some serious investigating going on as we've read over the past 3 weeks or so.
I think he's a great coach, but there are just some programs that don't seem right for some reason, like OSU football (Clarrett and possibly Pryor), Memphis basketball, USC football, FSU football, and so on.
I'm not really calling you out for saying he is a cheater. I pretty much jumped to a conclusion and ran with it because I see a lot of posts on the board implying that Carroll and Tressel are dirty rotten cheats when there has never been evidence to support this. If this is not you than please accept my most sincere apologies.
There has been serious investigation going on for much longer than the past 3 weeks. We just haven't been hearing about it until recently.
held a gun to my head, i would say USC is dirty, but how much more so than every other school? If anyone doesn't think that $50 handshakes are the norm in college football, you've got a good pair of rose colored glasses. I do believe that includes almost every college, including Michigan.
