So my son is playing his first year of sandlot football (6yrs old) and I get asked to help coach, not a big deal. There obvs isn't a big UM following in Franklin Co. Virginia so I was shocked to find out his team name was going to be the Wolverines. But it keeps getting better. He knows more players than any 6 yr old should so when he gets his practice jersey #4, he immediately has a huge smile and says "hey dad, I got #4 like Brandon Minor". Then, at the end of his first practice when the all come in. The coaches askes everyone if they know their team name and my son says Michigan really loud. I fight back a laugh and nobody else has a clue what he means. Anyway, I got a big kick out of all of this and thought I would share.
OT - Sandlot Football
Is the kid too young for a TomVH interview? RichRod's got to be on this before JoePa snake oils him like he did Newsome. This isn't the BigEast Rich. You've got to start early!
I have a 2 year old that could be a FB in the mould of Moundros no Sugarcoat.
If they still made Squeezits, I'd buy him a 6-pack for being the most awesome kid of all time.
I think I signed an online petition to bring these things back once... best little-league snack drink ever.
You just made my day.
The awesomeness of that post isn't comprehensible. However, if you'd added big league chew to the picture....well lets just say it'd be a visual orgy worthy of an "O" face.
Didn't they also have Squeezits with pellets you could put in them to make it change color, effectively teaching elementary and middle school age kids how to slip roofies into drinks at a very young age?
Indeed, and they were my favorite kind. This is one of the many reasons why Squeeze-its are infinitely cooler than Capris Suns.
And those stupid-ass Mondo drinks. You couldn't pretend the cap on one of those was a retainer even if you wanted to.
What's his 40 time? haha
I remember being a young guy like that and always jawing back and forth with my teammates about how Michigan was better than their favorite team (usually Illinois or Northwestern). They were great times.
All the best to your son...make sure he gets his reps at slot receiver.
Does he run with "Minor Rage"?
He is a RB and he did truck someone yesterday (as much as a 6 yr old can truck someone). Kid wrapped him up a yard or so from the goal line and he ended up on his back with my son on top of him in the endzone. Here's looking to the class of '22.
That is great! Keep up the good work with your son.
you've done a good job.
The Michigan football gods are pleased.
Now just dont piss off any of the various michigan hating gods!
6 yrs old in pads? Everytime I read a story or thread like this I hate where I grew up even more. We had flag football through 7-8th grades. First year in pads was freshman year of high school.
He's 6 years old? Then he's probably about the right size to be one of our slot receivers. :D
He must have great pad level if he's trucking kids in the endzone.
Those already impressed with the pad level:
Rod Marinelli....that is all.
