I'm pointing out, using facts, that dumars has wasted nearly all of his draft picks. I'm not asking that everyone be a starter, but more than 2 in a decade or so would be nice, and more than 4 players contributing anything to the team would be nice as well. Draft picks are a valuable commodity, and out of all of the ones he has used, he has gotten incredibly poor returns. In any league, when your city is not a free agent destination, it is nearly impossible to enjoy sustained success. He was able to keep a nice core of players that beat up on a mediocre east, but those players are gone, and those wasted picks are coming back to haunt the team, and now they have to overpay the oft injured carlos boozer, and an overrated ben gordon just in an attempt to make the playoffs.
“He was on the other side of the court, screaming: ‘Good shot, Kev!’” Durant said, shaking his head in delight. “I’m thinking, this guy’s an All-American type of teammate right there.”
