OT: This morning I randomly met Woody Paige - asked him about Rich Rod

So I was outside of the Grand Hyatt in Washington DC on the corner of 11th and H street. It was pouring rain and this guy walks up and stands next to me. I look at him and he looks JUST LIKE Woody Paige from Around the Horn. I go up to him and I'm like "Hey, you know you look a lot like --" and he says "Woody Paige? Yea I get that a lot". So we talk a little bit and I'm about to walk away, and I'm thinking, okay this is just some guy, but then he told me he was just messing with me and says "Yea, I am Woody". He was in town on business and was doing his conference call later today to prepare for an episode of Around the Horn.

I got to talk to him a little bit about T.O. (I'm a Bills fan) and then I ask him what he thinks about Rich Rodriguez. He said he thinks Rich Rod didn't realize there wasn't much talent at UM and thought he was a better coach than he really was, but that he liked what he did at WVU and Michigan should be good in the future.

Very random.

I have randomly met Halle Berry before!

I live in Atlanta and a while ago, more than 10 years now probably, I was heading to see a movie at a theater off Roswell Road. I must have been off school or something, because there was hardly anyone else in the parking lot or at the theater. As I'm heading toward the entrance, David Justice opens the door before I get to it and Halle Berry walks out right in front of me.

I have to admit though, that at my age back then, I was more awe struck by meeting David Justice.

About RichRod overestimating Michigan's talent. Thats an interesting take. Does it bode well for this year, being that he would have a better grasp of the athletes he has? Am I going to be insulted for pointing out the obvious, because I feel like I might?

I am sorry I don't mean to dump on your random meeting. It is cool to randomly run into tv personalities and all. I just hate to think that these "sports writers" (Mariotti is no longer a working journalist) are famous because they have a 30 second dialogue with a long haired moron on a terrible show that talks about yesterdays news. Again, cool random meeting, sincerely. I just hate that show and shows like it.

I don't hate PTI as much because I respect the prior work of Wilbon and Korn so much. Also the banter does not seem contrived at all on PTI.

ESPN does this thing where they create banter. They ask one side to choose an argument and tell the other side they have to oppose. It makes for poor television in my opinion. PTI does this to some extent, but they seem to actually like one another and are at least somewhat funny. ATH is just awful and most of those guys wouldn't have a job if not for that show, which means they aren't really that talented.

Woody Paige is still a sportswriter on a somewhat daily basis. He writes for the Denver Post.

First and Ten has never been the same since he left. No matter who they put across from Skip Clueless, with the possible exception of Stephen A Smith, the segments don't come close to being as entertaining as they were with Paige.

I don't always agree with Paige, but he is always entertaining. And that counts a lot nowadays.

I walked by Minnie Driver on the sidewalk today in downtown Ann Arbor. I think she was annoyed at the cloud of tobacco smoke that trailed me.

At least I'm 99% sure it was her. I guess she's plain-looking enough that there is probably some plain-looking midwestern girl that looks just like her.

But anyway, it was cool - in like a 1997 Good Will Hunting kind of way.
