time to be positive. Rod to coach the D-line.
And who, exactly, is he supposed to coach? The epically overpaid Adewale Ogunleye? The questionably-healthy Tommy Harris? The never-was Alex Brown?
On the bright side, he has to oversee an improvement, because the Bears can't possibly get any worse at getting pressure with the front four.
That's the point, the D-line has taken massive steps backwards in the last year or two. Mark Anderson fell off a cliff.
Alex Brown isn't that bad though. He was a 4th round pick who's played for them for years. Not a great pass rusher, but decent two-way defensive lineman. The Lions would probably kill to have their 4th round picks playing regularly for them and playing reasonably well years after they drafted them.
the Lions would kill to have their 4 round picks still on the active roster.
Nice hire by the bears.
Rod was a class guy, but he was not a head coach, good to see him land on his feet though.
Rod is back where he belongs..as a position coach. He's a line grunt and a film room junkie. Not a leader and face of a team.
So Rod will take his leverage, pad level, and outstanding will to Chi-town and and teach consistently to the D-lineman.
Rod had multiple teams looking at him for a DL coach.
Also .... Joe Barry might be getting hired as the bears linebacker coach.
