Does anyone know when Howards contract is up? It would be nice if we could pick him up from Orlando even tho I find that almost impossible
this week in unintentionally grim-sounding recruiting headlines
But honestly, wouldn't it be more efficient, if you're curious about D-Howard's K status, to google "Dwight Howard contract"? Maybe you're just looking to talk about "players you'd like to see play for Detroit," which, OK... there are about 50 I could name!
I like how the link leads back to this thread. Oh the wonders of the internet.
wow thats sad if u actually took the time to show me this
Take it easy, champ. Why don't you sit this next one out, stop talking for a while.
Yeah, maybe we can get Kobe and Lebron to play with him. Oh, and create a time machine and sign MJ in his prime. Do you think D-wade would play off the bench for us?
haha my bad yea i did end up looking it up on google. yea i kinda was hoping to start a conversation. well i was hoping his contract would expire next year but looks like hes in orlando for a while. plus he said he wants to retire in orlando so forget this topic how bout what are the chances of lebron coming to detroit next year haha
One of the reasons Joe was able to even get anyone to play as a FA in Detroit was because Bill Davidson ran what was known around the league as a "first class operation." Now that Mrs Davidson is apparently tightening the purse strings after his death, I wonder if Joe will have the freedom and the means to entice decent FA's to Detroit now?
We could be seeing the beginning of a return to their pre-80's status if things go the wrong way here. According to a few reports, the Pistons lost out on Avery Johnson and subsequently hired an untried coach because they are still paying Flip Squanders and Mrs D didn't want to spend the extra money.
I hope I am wrong, but the happenings at the Palace don't look too promising to me right now.
Um, MR. Davidson was well known to not spend a lot of money. This is the reason Joe has never maxed out a player and was never allowed to go into the luxary tax. This has nothing to do with "Mrs. Davidson tightening the purse strings after his death". It's been this way for, ummmm, ever.
True. Joe D was not allowed to go over the cap, luxury tax was the devil to Mr. D. Either way he was a great owner to the team and city. There are mixed views on what Joe D is doing now in Detroit but I think he's on the right track. It's impossible to remain elite forever, his skills are going to come in when we see how quick he's able to bring the Pistons back to the top. As you can see, the Bulls have yet to achieve that status since MJ left almost 12 years ago.
He was certainly a good owner of the team, but I don't know if I'd call him a great owner for the city. He's the one who pulled the team out of Detroit and moved them 20 miles north. He has profited financially since the move, but he probably would have also done so had the Palace been built downtown.
I think we should be called the Detroit Pistons of Auburn Hills. It has a catchy ring to it like Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim does.
Anyone here tweet?
