In between my daily brainstorming sessions regarding maize jerseys, night games, and Tate Forcier's latest bench press numbers, I came across a rather current sports topic that has been festering for some time...
With the emergence of MMA into the mainstream, has it surpassed Boxing in terms of popularity and appeal? While Boxing, of which I am a big fan of myself, has been diluted in a corrupt, profit-snatching amalgamation of different federations and titles, MMA has played directly to fans desires to see more frequent and more condensed, exciting fights. While boxers shy away from stiff competition in search of bigger paydays and has-been title defenses, MMA (still in its relative infancy) stays fresh with constant important and magnanimous title fights.
So which, in this day and age, do you fancy more: Boxing or MMA?
I still prefer Boxing, which I find to be the more technical, more pure of the two sports. But in the absence of any fight that even pretends to be important, I find myself watching more and more MMA and actually enjoying it.
