Kids come in as freshmen like Trey and they don’t know what to say from a leadership standpoint, so they’re just listening and that’s where the other guys come in and show them the ropes.”

OT- Allen Iverson

Any Pistons fans here? What do you think about Allen Iverson? And since he is done for the season, what should they do with him? Should they keep him, let him go? Personally I think they should let him go because it was a terrible idea from the start. I miss Mr. Big Shot...

how the heck do you propose we trade him when the deadline was like 2 months ago? The trade wasn't a bad idea. The purpose of the trade was to free up cap space to rework the roster for the future because Dumars felt that the roster had maxed out its potential. They are not keeping him or trading him. They are letting him walk as a free agent and using the money.

So, he's gone after this year. I miss Chauncey as well, but the team needed to move on, to reload. They need to lose some of the contracts weighing them down, try to acquire a big gun via free agency or a trade and start over. It's sad that it has to come to this, but it will be better than keeping the status quo for the coming years.

hanging on for too long, see the Tigers of the 1980s happens. That took a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG time to fix. The Red Wings are smart not to hold on to certain guys for too long (that plus they draft replacements better than anyone) and the Pistons will be better off in the long term. Remember everyone, this was a short term risk, but a long term investment.

Iverson was a one year experiment that just didn't work out. He'll be cut loose at the end of the season and we'll go after another big name. I love Chauncey too, but I can't fault Dumars for letting him go. The Pistons were not going to get over the hump with those same 4 starters.

If we don't resign Rasheed either, we'll have a huge amount of cap space (Rasheed's contract is like 13 million I think). We might actually have enough money to get 2 big-time players. Bosh seems to be the most common name thrown around.

Long-term, Stuckey, Rip, Prince, Maxiell and even Bynum, make up our core. I'm not sure if Amir and Afflalo will be here long-term. So, we need another good wing player off the bench, and two front court starters. I could see them getting Milsap or Boozer in free agency and then Tyson Chandler in a trade for a salary cap dump for New Orleans. And, then, they would draft a wing player with a mid-first round pick. Rasheed is gone. McDyess might come back on a one-year deal, but he may go to a contender.

So:
Pg: Stuckey/Bynum
SG: Rip/ Afflalo
SF: Prince/Sharpe/draft pick
PF: Boozer or Milsap/Maxiell/ Johnson
C: Chandler/ Brown and maybe McDyess
