One Frame At A Time: BTT, Part One Comment Count

Ace

There's too much from this tournament run to cram into one GIFs post, so I'm splitting it into two parts; today's covers the Illinois and Purdue games. The glut of quality GIFs is due in no small part to Fred Wright-Jones, who emerged over the tournament as the heir apparent to Andrew Dakich's role as King of the Bench Mob. You can see him above mirroring Zak Irvin's dunk from the end of the bench. There's much more where that came from.

HONORABLE MENTION

Too much to post, but my gfycat library is available here, and it's searchable by keyword. Each GIF is tagged with player names, opponent, and "Big Ten Tournament" for these games.

15. X GON DENY THE POST

Apparently Michigan can switch everything next year.

14. Irvin To The Rack

The game-tying layup:

More of the same in OT:

Your return is most welcome, Good Irvin.

13. RahkSlam

Michael Finke realized the error of his ways a moment too late.

12. DJ On The Move

Note to NBA scouts: DJ Wilson is actually 5'9". The rest is just hair.

11. Beilein Reacts To Officiating

The surrender cobra is good:

This is even better thanks to the ref walking into the frame at the end:

10. Passing Of The Torch

Watch the far left.

9. WAGNER'S REVENGE

Totally unintentional. Totally.

8. Yoink

Remarkable stuff from a wildly undersized forward with very big hair.

7. [two fire emojis]

Can't give him an inch, Illinois version:

Purdue version:

6. And-Fun

Between the outlet, the finish, and Wright-Jones, there's a lot going on here.

A whole lot.

5. A Swift Death

Hot damn.

4. White Collar Pull-Up

Blue collar staredown.

3. Airmail

Enhance.

2. Yakety Slam

ENHANCE.

FRAMES OF THE GAMES: WAIT FOR IT

Long live Fred Wright-Jones.

is without compare and running away with the title; this tourney was a bench party bounty full of treasures; the 360 disco dance was outstanding and needs to be reposted.

These are some quality Wright-Jones, but I guess the best stuff was from Saturday/Sunday?  Because he cracked me up like five or six times during the tournament and I think only one of these did.

No love for 'Yoink'? This is a travesty! That move by DJ was among the bits and pieces of the Thursday and Friday games that I was able to catch live while at work, and I went wild when I saw it (my co-workers think I'm insane).

So many to choose from, though. That's what I call a good problem. Obligatory:

Gotta be yakety slam as it perfectly captures what this team has become.  There's two minutes left in a laugher of a blowout and the EFFORT that goes into that play is just... brilliant.

I've actually been wondering for some time if someone put the kibosh on Dakich's bench mob antics. He's barely done a dice roll or windmill over the past two years. Was thinking coach or teammates may have told him to pipe down over there.

Did you see the boot in the boiler that Mo took from the ref (9. WAGNER'S REVENGE) when they got tangled up?  No wonder he was a little empty after that...
