Haha, this is great. However, I'm not sure if I was disappointed or pleased to see that this was the only lolcats-tagged post though. I'm leaning towards pleased.

Nah, I remember them - I was just hoping to relive them through a simple click of the tag. That's the disappointment part. I'm a standby trustee of the phrase "lurk more." Been around for a while, but only recently registered.. @karpodiem - I was hoping for "INVISIBLE BIKE" to be attached to him. (bonus points again to those that smiled when they read the subject line)

I love the cats, cracked me up. But, its been quite fascinating the last week or so watching many of my brethern UM fans turn into inferiority complex plagued fans. Very Sparty-esque. Kudos, everyone. Regardless, tonight, I will have no action on the game. So, Go Heels. I dont want to spend my summer time up north this year listening to all the Brahs, any more than you obsessed folks do.

Don't you guys know? MSU winning the title tonight will solidify their assent to greatness. They will be known as THE University in Michigan and UofM will be considered irrelevant. Might as well jump on the bandwagon now and become a Sparty fan. It's the cool/trendy thing to do now. (God I hope UNC dismantles them tonight...)

... how brian describes *exactly* how i feel about subject X. brian: you... complete... me... [tear]... The ultimate is how every says how much this does for detroit. as if 50 different company CEOs are basing their decisions about where to move their companies on the results tonight.

Copying and pasting this from Rivals; great post over there by WolverineKim. What a strange day around here. Are you a Michigan fan if you want MSU to win a national championship seems to be the question of the day. I don't think you have to throw away your lifetime Michigan fan pin or anything if you want the sparties to win tonight. I guess I would just have to say that there are some things I think about when I think about wanting MSU to win. In anything. * "The Vote". Most of you are waaaay too young to know what this is even about, so I won't bore you with it. But me and Bo ... yeah, we were pretty upset. * Things like the Desmond Howard rape, etc. are big issues with me, but Clockgate in 2001 will forever be remembered. I was there. I saw 0:00. I then saw 0:01. Michigan played like crap, didn't deserve to win, and yet they did. Really. They did. * "Arrogant Asses" statement by Coach Rogers. Classy, those MSU coaches. * Green and white t-shirts worn around here with Chris Webber's famous time-out call picture on it. * Going to the MSU/Michigan football game in 2007 and seeing a whole bunch of green and white shirts with smiley faces and "Appalachian State" printed on them. I mean ... wtf. * The never-to-be-forgotten token of affection on the billboard in Novi. Holy Toledo! Who's Little Brother Now? blah blah blah * Coach Dantonio and his speech about Mike Hart. Did I mention how classy I think these guys are? * On the local radio sports show here this morning, they were talking about how there are lots of Michigan fans rooting for Michigan State tonight. The other gentleman said, "Well, that just goes to show you that most Michigan fans are really just Spartan wannabe's." (Thanks). There are Michigan fans who are jerks, so please don't think I'm saying that only Spartan fans can be classless and annoying. I'm just talking about how my life has been affected by such things. I think of these things when watching MSU play a game and it affects me. Just like I think many of you who say you want them to win will watch them tonight, and if the game is close you will ... well, you know what you'll do. I also ask myself a very simple question: Is there any instance at all that I can think of where any of my MSU brethren have wanted Michigan to win? In any sport? Were they happy in 1997? Nope. They were laughing about the "half" national championship. I do have some fairly kind MSU friends who aren't crass or irritating, but that's as far as it goes. So that's as far as I go. It's as far as I can go. I can't help it. I don't like them. Never have. Never will. They are yucky. :-) Of course you can be a true-blue Michigan fan and root for MSU tonight. Just please don't lump all people who will not be rooting for them as "haters" or people who don't care about the state of Michigan. It's a great thing for Detroit to have MSU in the Final Four. If MSU wins tonight, then congratulations and God Bless them. But I'm sure not going to pretend that I think it's an awesome thing for the state of Michigan for MSU to win a national championship in basketball. I look at things as how they affect Michigan. Does it help Michigan basketball for MSU to win the championship? Um ... I think not. Does it hurt Michigan? Don't know. Don't really care. It is what it is. I'm not heartsick over it or anything. I'm just not ... happy for them. Call me a hater if you will. I am just older and wiser than I used to be. I put my MSU hat and shirt given to me by a dear friend in a bottom drawer many, many, many years ago, when I learned a lesson about a knife and a back. I don't live with a Spartan, don't sleep with a Spartan, don't hang out with a lot of Spartans, don't particularly like Spartans. I try to be indifferent. Root for them? Are you freaking crazy? Have a fun night watching. Me? I can't wait for the Spring Game Saturday. GO BLUE!

The more I think about it, the more I want State to get absolutely demolished. Oh, gosh, how sweet would that be. They got to the final and gave everyone the feel good story. Hooray. Yipee. Back to earth, Sparty. Lawson and Hansborough are gonna pwn.

through all of the above. You forgot the 'Elvis is Dead' T-shirts and the L.S.J. calling Bo's coaching methods "Bunker Mentality, half Archie, half Edith." Or, Fat George whinning incessantly after every loss to UM. Man, I could have sworn that 4-3 Stunt defense was going to take over the Big 10 and tilt this "rivalry" towards them. At least, that's what Sparty told us in the 1980s. But, here's my difference. I dont care what Sparty does; hell, I dont even consider them a real rival, not in the vein of ND or OSU, at least. I have said all along, I just wanted MSU and all the other league schools to shut Digger Phelps, Doug Gotlieb and Hubert Davis up, all of whom said the league did not deserve its bids and plays bad basketball. I'll be counting the cash I won betting the Big 10--and MSU--while I laugh at them. Big whoop if Sparty never cheers for us....i've always considered us a bit better than that kind of pettiness.....and, why would I, in the course of deciding something, pause to consider what would Sparty do in a similar situation....unless I wanted to do the opposite. Its not going to be relveant anyway. Double Digit win by the Heels.....should have grabbed them at 4/1 back in November.

And, I dont doubt that it changes my perspective on this whole issue. I do consider Northern Michigan my home, of sorts, and lived up there for almost six years right out of college. But, growing up in Ohio, I ended up cheering for anything with Michigan in the title as a counter to all these buckeyes. I was stoked when MSU spanked them in 1987 and in 1998, for example. And, come one, aren't we all Sparties when they play the Irish every September? I know I am. But, yeah, I never had any ill will to MSU. As a kid, they were my second favorite college program. That changed when i started working and living up there. I would still cheer for them, but, by then, I realized how much OSU-like hate they had for us. My beliefs were set in stone, as far as pulling for them, but now its more indifference than anything else.

Will I ever feel any need to root for sparty. I'm going to Detroit in 45 minutes to see this spectacle because the heels need all the fans they can get. I hope they crush them by 30+. The spartan fan culture would never lend a clap our way and damn't I like it that way. We took sides a long time ago and there is no turning back. The hell with East Lansing & their crappy taco bell.

I cant understand why people from Michigan want MSU to lose. For crying out loud its your home state team. Why cant you like all teams that rep your state? MSU is not my first choice. U-M will always be. But for crying out loud people, why would you want MSU to lose in Detroit? Get real.

As a Wolverine stuck out here in North Carolina, I can tell you that your average UNC fan is a bigger asshole than most if not all Ohio State fans. Seriously. And if MSU loses, then we Michigan fans get the HAHA treatment because "You're both freaking Michigan". I can't stand that I have to cheer MSU. I feel dirty doing it, but the alternative is the equivilent of cheering Satan.

my sister, mother, and neighbors all went to state, so it's not hard for me to root for them. doesn't look like they're going to do it though. they're down like 15 with 3 minutes left. hope E.L. doesn't burn. actually, i find the riots funny. do you think they'd do it in a loss?

Rooting for Sparty is not some politically correct way to "represent" Michigan. Like Dantonio rooting for the Bucks last November when it could have helped them. 95% of their fan culture hates us and loves every team that plays us. I have been to way too many sporting events involving those people in east lansing that showed me why its easy to make the decision to root against state every chance I get. Tonight was one of them. They treated everybody like shiz down in Detroit. Young and old alike. for every sparty who shows common cents and sportsmanship i'll how you 10 more who don't. I truly can't say that ratio is the same for Michigan fans and there are a lot of pricks in the michigan fan base. Every year that passes i find it easier to loathe them and revel in their demise. MSU can stick it & thats that.
