I mean:

“The Victors” could soon have a modernistic younger sibling.

If a resolution presented to the Central Student Government on Tuesday night passes, the body will provide funding to a group of students looking to develop an additional thematic song to play at University athletics events.

Central Student Government.

I don't know who you are. If you're looking for jobs I can tell you I don't have any. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired from the internet. Skills that make me a nightmare for people who will be in job interviews with people who have googled you. If you vote this down unanimously, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for your facebook photos. I will not scour your instagram. But if you vote for this, I will find your linkedin. I will find your whole internet. And I will kill your search results.

The patient zeroes:

Business sophomore Adam Weiss, a representative on the CSG Assembly, spoke on behalf of the song campaign, which he called “Hail and Unite.” He said his friend, LSA senior Mike Weinberg, conceptualized the project.

“This project is meant to be, number one, extremely unique,” Weiss said. “The goal of this song is to get a lot of big names that are associated with the University.”

"Extremely unique." #expelAdamWeiss

The following is a rambling by a middle aged alumnus avoiding his work. Proceed with caution.

I understand the complaints about picking on a kid, but this is not simply an idea he came up with in a bar and forgot by morning.  The question is how far this would go. If they chose to play his song after The Victors (kind of a "can't have one without the other") I think you'd affect a lot of people who may not be too happy about it. And I would be one of them.

I remember Willy the Wolverine, and it's good he didn't last, but I was a student at the time and it seemed like harmless fun. We certainly do not need this song and we didn't need Willy. That we can all agree on.

I do wonder how well it would all go down if he was even to come up with a song. Would it just plain suck? Would only a few people like it? Would it die a rapid death in spite of our greatest fears that it would catch on and be the trailer to the Victors van?

If he wants to try to get people involved in the project that will get him connections and notoriety, I guess that's ambition. I think most of us wouldn't want him to try to improve on something that does not need improving. (Remember the "halo" at the stadium?)  I can't say I'd personally like or dislike the kid.

both the idea and this post as a whole. Just because some guys want to change up the fight song doesn't give you the right to potentially ruin a guy's career prospects. Is a fight song really worth that much? This is incredibly petty. For all of the ridicule this blog throws at other sites and other people, I think they need to get some back for this post. I love this blog, but this went way over the line.

The worst thing about the modern world is that it is impossible to escape the ideas and views of others.  I know, I know, don't read the story.  But this is the third or fourth media source that I have seen who has reported this.  This has literally been impossible to avoid.

Can we just kill the internet and twitter and stuff?  It would kind of suck, but it would mean that you would never have to hear about this kind of crap again.  I can remember a world without the internet, e-mail and the ability to instantly know about every dumb thing anyone has ever said.  I wanna go back.

Why is the red cup blurred out in his picture?  I mean, I understand that people under 21 have a tendancy to photoshop pictures of them with alcohol to give the appearance that they aren't imbibing illegally, but for real? Does he really think the red solo cup in his hand is any less visible with the pixelation?

This is a PC twitter bullshit universe we now live in. And its turning us into mush. Sidestep the wussification of America and grow a pair. Dont be offended by words or a comment. Be offended that your right to say those words or comment is being infringed upon.

This statement is not intended for anyone in particular. It is meant for everyone specifically.

God I knew guys like this when I was at Michigan.  Some things don't change.

As much as I've enjoyed the spectacle, I do feel kind of bad that a 20 year-old kid has to deal with this, whether he's put it on himself or not.

Did anyone actually take it seriously that Brian wanted to expel the kid?  The idea is so over the top ridiculous that  you'd have to be half crazy to think he was serious.

Is that where we are at with the internet, that even utterly insane things now seem plausable enough that no one can even tell if someone is joking anymore?

Besides his first beer there, this is probably the best thing to ever happen to this kid.

I blame Brian if we get a stupid ND esque sing song and lame student video out of this.
