Nik Stauskas May Or May Not Enter Draft
this person is eligible to be drafted we know nothing else [Bryan Fuller]
Michigan sophomore Nik Stauskas is headed to the NBA, a source close to the situation told ESPN.com on Thursday.
Well dangit
Mississauga, ON’s Nik Stauskas will enter the 2014 NBA draft and choose Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports to represent him reliable sources have told Hoops Hype Canada.
Dangit again
Just wanted to reiterate that any reports about my future intenions are FALSE! I have NOT made ANY decisions on my future yet!

I'M GETTING MY HOPES UP
U-M hoops fans getting their hopes up … I wouldn't. That's not inside info. Just everyone thinks Nik will go. Nothing has really changed.

Actually that seems like a bad idea
Well this was pointless
Can we at least get some recriminations
For whatever reason, BS sourcing standards that would never fly for regular stories are commonplace for sports. "Sources say?" Come on.

allllllll right

I found this blog post about QB controversies in the UM Football Program. It quotes Hoke as saying the QB position is "an unknown" at this point! Check out the post!

This was a good way to bring some levity to the situation. Maybe all this BS will covince Nik he doesn't want to be an adult quite yet. Good luck to him whatever he decides.

I suspect he may or may not enter the NBA draft at some point at some future time

My sources say this report is false.

my sources tell me that reporters will keep typing even if people stop speaking.

In case anybody was wondering I may or may not also enter the upcoming NBA draft.

THE MOOD IS TENSE
Jeff Goodman: Hey, you're making me look stupid. Get out here, Basketball Jerk!
Ron Burgundy: Great story. Compelling, and rich.

What if he does neither and just decides to play hockey? It's his true calling!!!!
April 10th, 2014 at 11:46 AM ^
seeing how he is Canadian and all, it's a natural path for him. In fact, close sources suggest it's the only path...

Revolutionizes a new shot which scored 3 hockey goals at once.
see him play for the Pistons and the Red Wings. At 6'6", 205 lbs he would have a Chara-esque reach.

I'm glad that's settled.

when in fact Nik will be entering the NBA draft. No year is mentioned.

Unfortunately, "sources" are usually right...the whole "smoke=fire" thing.

just as a cheerful fuck-you to ESPN.
That's the only reason, obviously. I have no ulterior motives whatsoever...
April 10th, 2014 at 12:37 PM ^
FUCK ESPN.
They're E! and TMZ with a sports slant.
Literally I could walk into their headquarters in Bristol and say "LeBron James is retiring after this year to focus on acting"
ESPN would break into coverage of the Master's and everything else with breaking news from this "source."
"Sources say" is bullshit...anyone can say anything and everyone on earth is a source.
Sources say doesn't make the source correct. But because it's a story like this, where it's VERY likely to end up being true...they get away with it.
DOUBLE BIRDS ESPN! DOUBLE BIRDS...AND some MGoSpluge all over you.

This is me and this topic.
This guy must have some awful depth perception. How don't you realize something is up when the angle of everything in the store doesn't change as you're walking past it/into it.

Nerd alert, nerd alert: This looks like a solid play. I have some old 0 mana cast creatures that would help a black/red deck immensely. I kinda miss Magic from my high school days (yes, high school). I spent so much time and effort putting together a great deck then we basically all stopped playing. Sad.
I'm not sure this is good for my marriage.
Based on his latter expression, I would guess he is Asian American.

ESPN is whoring for even more attention.

and say Nik Stauskas told ESPN.com and denied he had decided. Then they copyied his tweet into the story which would indicate that his contact with ESPN was a tweet he sent to everyone.
In related news, MLive received a text from Nik saying he hasn't decided and an announcement will be coming sometime after this weekend.
I've read many tweets and comments from other "journalists" criticizing ESPN on this one.

I did that over a year ago and I haven't missed it. I can get my sports fix from anywhere.

I wonder if Nik is doing the hat thing when announcing his decision - one hat on the table with an NBA logo on it and another with UM.
April 10th, 2014 at 12:59 PM ^
Is anyone here really under the impression that this is going to be a tough choice for the young man? I'd love to see him platy another here, but I have absolutely no belief that this will happen. He should find out how high a lottery pick he's going to be, hire an agent, and get paid. Reporting that he's going to the NBA is essentially the same as saying fire is hot, water is wet, and the sun made it's traditional daily appearance.
No one thinks he's returning, not really. But that doesn't mean ESPN has any journalistic integrity, so let's make fun of them because that's literally always fun.
People are fooling themselves. "well, how deep is the draft, which teams like him, maybe he wants to go to BTB moar!"
All of these are homer rationalizations and naive. If the Pelicans want to pay him millions of dollars to play basketball, uh, he's going to do it.
Thanks for the great contributions to Michigan, Nik! You will be missed.

Hey, I think we have a decent shot at the Final Four if he stays . . . can't fault me for stalking him. The Team, the Team, the Team!
"BS sourcing standards that would never fly for regular stories are commonplace for sports."
lulz
perhaps he got wind of "buzz" of a departure announcement coming from UM today...
it was easier to assume that a prospective announcement would be about Nik, so they ran with the "probable" Michigan bball departure story...
only to have the surprise twist be the Jon Horford story...
Les Miles "damn strong team" nonsense. . .
It is not true as of this moment but will most likely be true after this weekend. I hope he makes it rain 3s in the pros and proves to be the next big Canadian superstar in the NBA.
