the new stadium

please forgive me if this has been discussed before....

...but i have been out of the country, and then out of the state, the past 2 years and have not been to a home game since notre dame '06. (which seems like forever ago....) anyways, i have not seen a lick of the new stadium construction, and i dont think anyone has really mentioned it before. so, how is it looking? i saw the pictures on gbmw and i dont know, im not a fan of what i've seen. granted, its not done yet, but it seems weird to me seeing this massive structure jutting from the sides of the big house. i always liked how the outside looked small like a glorified high school stadium...

any thoughts?

I enjoyed every visit to Michigan Stadium over the years but, taking a step back, the old stadium was a tin can buried in a hole (albeit one that holds 110k fans). Visitors see it for the first time and comment "That's it"? The problem is that it was often too quiet and un-intimidating for 110k fans. Yes it could get loud during extremes like Michigan's 2005 win over OSU or last year's comeback versus Wisconsin, but we seem to have lost our home field advantage. Now we will have this impressive and imposing brick structure with beautiful arches and state of the art press box, concessions and entry/exit points. Hopefully it will retain the noise better (how can it not?). It will STILL be Michigan Stadium with its history and 110k seats, but will more more impressive to recruits and more intimidating to our opponents. I am, however, somewhat bummed to be losing the sunshine much earlier on those fall Saturdays.

It's big and impressive and all, but I didn't enjoy the view inside the stadium like I enjoyed the exterior view.

btw, the michigan difference PSA is thee best in college football. do they change those things yearly? i hope not.

i think thats the difference between being decent and being good this year. we really need our swagger back. we have the talent, just need that confidence. thats why i think western is a huge game. a big win could get the ball rolling. a loss, however.....

I jog by the stadium three times a week, and have done so for the past 8 months. I have not yet grown tired of seeing the new stadium grow. It has become both an awe-inspiring and imposing structure. It is both classy and intimidating (which fits perfectly here). I think it will undoubtedly improve our home field advantage - the big house is even more intimidating, more so because it is now quite impressive from the outside. Plus, all of this has got to make a great impression on recruits.
