ND Gameday Predictions

OK, so here comes the cripple fight.  I made a prediction on how this game would turn out on Sunday during my review of the MiaOH game:

http://mgoblog.com/diaries/looking-back-hats-looking-forward-miaoh

Of course I had no idea what the weather in South Bend was going to look like at that point.  In light of the stormy skies our guys will see today I would like to change my prediction.  I think it will be tough for ND to get a passing game going in the rain but that our outside linebacker play will allow for a few decent runs by the Irish running backs.  I still think this one comes down to our better kicker and a final moments field goal.  I am seeing:

M - 16

ND - 14

What are you all thinking?

Even with the bad weather, I think this could be a breakout day for our offense.  Notre Dame will be the worst defense we've faced so far.  Utah was quick on defense and Miami (not that Miami)'s 3 linebackers are all in the running for the Butkus award (first time 3 guys from the same team have been up for the award). Notre Dame is painfully slow on offense and defense.  I think we could see a big game out of Sam McGuffie or Michael Shaw.  Maybe I'm just being optimistic though. Notre Dame's lack of a consistent kicker could be the difference (provided that KC Lopata continues his trend).....Michigan 24   ND 14.

No doubt in my mind, Michigan is going to crush the Domers. Michigan's offense is crap, sure, but so is ND's defense. And on the other side of the ball, Notre Dame's offense is still stumbling and bumbling while Michigan's defense is solid.

I wish it were otherwise, but this game isn't going to be up in the air for very long.

i agree. even with the shitty weather i feel our offense will only get better each game this season and ND's defense blows. and the fact that ND will probably have to run it a lot (same with us) b/c of the weather combined w/ teh fact that on average we only allow 1.1 yards per carry on defense we should stop them. i'm not seeing many points for ND. i'm obviously biased but we can definitely win this game.

Like 50-0.  ND is beyond terrible.  The whole improvement between first and second games doesn't apply to shitty tackling, shitty coverage, bad oline play, and bad dline play.  It applies to stuff like execution and bad reads, couple blown coverages, not terrible coverage all around.

whowing up to decide the issue. Must admit, and I'm probably older than most here, that I've witnessed too many incidents of absolute crazy calls by officiating crews, changes of weather - the Harry O. Kick - great MI RBs and QBs making uncharacteristic mistakes at the worst possible moment to simply dismiss this as a non-existent chance of effecting the outcome.

Perhaps ND is simply being paid back for all the years they manipulated the CFB system, or it might be more personal and Chalier might be experiencing some bad Karma. He certainly hasn't done anything to indicate he can count on blessing for good deeds. If he has, they are very well hidden.

Perhaps ND will finally realize you can't just throw darts to determine a real HC at this level. They've hired five and employed four HCs since LC was named HC at Michigan. Paybacks are terrible. I know. I'll be kind though. UM 3-0.

I'll go with 17-10 Michigan.

I'm watching MSU-FA right now on ESPN 2. Watching them play on that field might give me a decent idea of what field conditions might be like in South Bend. To think that either team is going to convert more than 1 field goal is a risky proposition at best. Given what we've seen from both offenses makes me think that either team is going to have a hard time getting in the end zone more than twice, especially in a monsoon. I think Michigan gets in the end zone twice, and someone slips down in the mud and allows ND to score once as a result.
