NCAA 10 Player Ratings Are Out

I do not think they are finalized yet. But here it goes:
http://www.easportsworld.com/en_US/ncaafootball/create_a_school
Then look for the one done by themaizeandblue
Here are some of them:
Forcier-83
DRob-80 (88 speed = garbage)
Sheridan-76
Minor-89
Brown-85
Shaw-84
Graham-93
Martin-91
Campbell-85
Ezeh-88
Stevie Brown(FS)-86
Brandon Smith(SS 1)-88
Emilien(SS 2)-81
Donovan Warren-91 (94 speed)
Cissoko-86
Zoltan-90
Mathews-90
Odoms-87
Koger-84
Lalota-83
Roh-82
Gibbons-78
Wr #21 = Hemingway I think

What do you guys think-I think they actually did pretty well except for DRob's speed-the fastest QBs in the game are Griffin and Pryor at 90.

Martin at 91 and Brandon

Martin at 91 and Brandon Smith at 88 both seem too high. Those are the first ones I noticed.

Actually...

These are the ratings that come with the Michigan roster "template" provided by EA. Those who want to create their own team with Michigan level players use these ratings; so these are most likely going to be the same ratings used for Michigan in the game.

DRob at 88

It's actually pretty fast for a QB. Rarely in the NCAA games is there a QB with speed above 88. The only one I have seen with a speed above 90 is Pat White at 91. It's stupid, as QBs are definitely capable of running faster than other players on the field, but I imagine that they do it so that it doesn't get too easy. I once created a prospect QB with high 90s speed and I cut him eventually because it wasn't fun anymore.

Even Pat White, one of the

Even Pat White, one of the fastest QBs in recent years, only ran a 4.55 forty yard dash. While that's fast for a QB, Pat White would be considered slow-ish or average for a WR or CB.

That being said, Denard's track exploits probably put him a notch ahead of White at the same point in their respective careers.

How do you know all the names of these virtual players? I thought they were all just randomly generated.

In all seriousness, though, this is one subject I couldn't care less about.

The main reason I think it's

The main reason I think it's interesting is that it gives us a chance to see what "outsiders" think of our players. I might want to say Brandon Graham is a 98, but if objective people think he's only a 93, then maybe he's not so good.

Or I might think Steve Schilling is only worth a rating of 75 but they give him an 88, maybe he's better than I thought.

It's useless, but then again...so is most of the info we discuss.

Part of it is that I look

Part of it is that I look forward to the new NCAA football game each year (and to inexplicably ignore Madden). I do think that it is rather interesting to see what the folks at EA think of our players. One thing that has amused me the past few years is EA's love affair with Brandon Harrison. He was been Michigan's impact player for a few years and started at PR and KR. In real life, he was just okay.

Carlos Brown injury

Carlos Brown injury rating=65. That is terrible. Everyone else is in 80s or 90s. They have Shaw as a WR.

I wonder if Junior Hemingway's injury rating is in the negatives after last season. The guy couldn't stay healthy. Hopefully he's all better this season and can make some sort of impact.

A friend of mine, and a fellow Michigander and M football fan works for Playstation. He is a producer for the games and he's one of the guys that comes up with these ratings. What a cool job he has, but he works a ton of hours. Last I knew he was working on their MLB games and not the college football games.

He and my older brother were good friends at WMU. A few years ago he assisted on some random game like lacrosse or something. He created a team in the game that consisted of just his friends from college. So my brother was in a video game. I thought that was pretty cool.

It's all in the averaging

While Space Emperor's "Ruthlessness", "Power", and "Galactic Awesomeness" ratings are 99, his blocking is only a 40.

Now why his speed is not higher I don't know (didn't they see his supreme breakaway speed on those couple fake punts last year?) Granted, Our Space Emperor is not fleet of foot, but why would he be when he has a fleet of hovercraft to float on over his minions?

For a punter, they would not

For a punter, they would not count his blocking ability in adding up his rating becuase punters don't block.

Stevie!?

I agree with what they have there except for Stevie B. and Brandon Smith.

Brandon Smith: I guess my thoughts with Smith are that based on his physical abilities (Same with Brown) he should be ranked up there as he is. However, with his position in flux and what has been reported as mental frustration (despite him stating he believes linebacker is the position he has the best chance to make the NFL at), I don't think he will be nearly as successful as many of us had hoped. I'm rooting for this kid to succeed because he's from NJ (woooo hometown armpit of America!) and because I think that with a little confidence he could be an absolutely great player (mind over matter??). He has all the tools, now he just needs to believe that he can do it. I know it must be frustrating for him being primarily a QB in HS and then learning a new position, safety, and to not have the immediate success he has had all his life. I hope he busts his tail and develops some confidence and turns into a monster linebacker for us.

Stevie Brown: Read every comment on him for the past 2 years

Something tells me that I'll be running the ball frequently. The defensive front is more amazing than I'd thought, Stevie an 88 is surprising. If these are the ratings that are used, Michigan will be overused à la WVU, OSU, USC, Tebowites etc.

How is Pryor faster than DRob? That's what I'm wondering; I thought that Pryor was a power runner as opposed to a speedier one.

He said he was a "power

He said he was a "power runner." That implies a lack of speed. He has both.

I do think Denard is faster in a straight line, but freshmen always get lower ratings in everything.

unstoppable

Ace set, line up trips to the narrower side of the field. Slant 18 to the empty side against man defense (if it's zone, reverse the run direction to the receiver side, but you won't be scoring a touchdown every run). The computer doesn't know how to stop it because of EA's poor pursuit AI in NCAA09. YMMV, but I managed 3600yds/68tds rushing in one season with it w/ HB#23 (likeness withheld for legal reasons!). There were few teams with safeties that ran and reacted quickly enough to the play to stop it.

NCAA10's pursuit angles look much improved

Haha yes!

I also run to the outside with WR trips to narrow side of field against man defense, although I don't use slant 18 as much. I usually use toss plays or do HB dive and cut to the outside (works for RBs with 94 speed and up--99 speed is guaranteed TD in All-American, at least 20 yards much of the time in Heisman).
