I've been reading through many posts on the Paulus saga. There is a lot negative stuff out there at the moment. I mean there is a "F Paulus" Facebook group now. Seriously!? I am clearly concerned with two things at this point. Our defense. And the U of M fan base turning a blind eye to someone that could come in and help our team win more than three games this year. Everything is on the table after a 3-9 season in Ann Arbor. And it should be. Many of you have unconsciously or consciously placed Tate Forcier on a pedestal. "Thee" incumbent quarterback. Which is in direct contrast with Rich Rodriguez, and his system. He very clearly fosters competition at all positions. "F Paulus"... Why? Because he played basketball at Duke? Because there is a video of him on Youtube flopping?? Cmon guys and gals. Let's be a little more rational about this.
My concerns is about some of you. Not Paulus.
It is interesting to see where everyone stands on this issue. We are putting our team on the shoulders of a QB who has ran Zero plays in college, the same situation we were in last year mind you, However I bet everyone would be welcoming Paulus onto the team if he decided to join last year.
I've been very on the fence on this issue and am still undecided about whether he would help/hurt the team. But you even heard it from Tate himself: He could give two shits less about Paulus and if he wants to come to Michigan than he better be ready for a fight.
I'd almost like to think that Tate wants Paulus to join. He feels like he's got a chip on his shoulder and that he can outplay, outhustle, and outwork any person who tries to compete against him.
This all seems like pointless banter...
I don't think it's fair to criticize people who are concerned with this being a distraction in the locker room for our team.
I think all the F paulus talk, in reality is F the media because the majority of people view Michigan as desperate by taking a chance at paulus. That's why this is such a circus. To be clear, we're all concerned about depth here.
My concern is with all of the Walmarts on Tate's facebook page. Jeeeeeesus. Sometimes I wish humans had a natural preditor, you know, to thin the herd a little.
I won't shop at a store that has threatened its employees with redundancy so they will vote for a certain presidential candidate. Ain't my style.
...a link to confirm that allegation?
I take it then that you're not a union member or attorney, because it's not like they are given much option on their voting (or campaign contributions) each election.
FWIW, the group was created while Paulus was still playing for Duke, long before this fiasco with Michigan even started . That said, I don't like our players joining such things no matter how they feel about the situation.
Reign 'em in, Coach. The Team does not air its dirty laundry to the public.
Between Tate's status update and Campbell doing that...apparently we now do air our dirty laundry.
I think El Caballo de Sangre broke it down pretty well in his blog today:
Tate / Robinson are 1a and 1b
Paulus is probably a better #3 / emergency QB than Sheridan (i.e., death ).
I don't have any problem with Paulus coming for these reasons. He likely won't beat out Tate or Robinson, and if he does, then he gives us our best option to win. I don't give to squirts of pi$$ about the media or UM bashers that are laughing at this move or calling it "desperate." RR is building a dynasty, and we will be the ones laughing in the end.
Considering how much irrational hatred is out there for Paulus, I'm starting to like him more and hope for his success. On the other hand, I'm starting to dislike Tate, who is acting very self-entitled after playing well against our crappy defense. How do Denard Robinson, Nick Sheridan, and Devin Gardner feel about this whole situation?
Iwanna know how coach K feels about the situation.
Please don't say that or ESPN will have him on PTI commenting on the state of Michigan football and what a nice young man Paulus is.
I have a problem with paulus because he thinks he is going to come in here and just get the starting QB job. After no football in what 4 years, theres no way. Plus it's making Michigan look extremely desperate and pathetic, which we aren't.
When did he say he thinks he's going to come in and start?
We're not desperate? We finished 3-9 and, if that happens again, I would not be surprised to see a large percentage of Michigan fans calling for Rodriguez's head.
Are we pathetic? No.
Are we desperate? Uhhh...yeah.
No Magnus, didn't you hear Paulus say that RR promised him the starting job without having to do anything just because he's Greg Paulus and OMG Dick Vitale just switched to covering football?
(For the 1000th time, Paulus ceeded his THREE YEAR starting job in basketball to a freshman and helped him get better [not aimed at Magnus, but UMxNightGames above])
My only concern is that you haven't edited your title yet.
