This will be interesting to see play out. Munchie has more experience than Jones.
MUNCHIE LEGAUX Names Top 3 (Mich is in)
I could have sworn he was now considered an Oregon "lock"
PLEASE GOD THE NAME
QB ability is secondary here.
Is it pronounced like "Munchy Lego"?
That would probably be the coolest Michigan player name since Harlan Huckleby and Sam Sword.
I was a big fan of Mister Simpson.
Whatever happened to him? I was hoping he'd get a few carries.
I think he graduated. He got some carries in the CMU game. 05 i think?
He transferred to Cincinnati. I think he was academically ineligible though, and never made it on the field there either. Too bad, what a waste of a great name.
Also, didn't he have a little brother named "Sir" or something similar? I vaguely remember hearing that somewhere.
I think it was Mister and Master? Sounds crazy... i know.
For some reason I thought it was Sir as well, I could be wrong though. What I do remember is an article that interviewed the mom about her interesting name choices and she said that "she always wanted her sons to be taken seriously." God that had to have backfired.
Are you thinking of SirDarean Adams, the LB for MSU? My recollection is that his mother named him that so everyone would have to call him "sir".
I will give you a +1 for the avatar. It just made me laugh very hard.
I remember going to the State Championship game and his Cincinnati Colerain team won Div1 ... and i asked a fan who the RB was and he said Mister Simpson and he is going to UM ... I loved the name but never expected alot of him.
I always thought it was pronounced "Munchy Legoo."
I would imagine it is pronounced "Le-GO."
Zoltan the destroyer!!!
Would we take a third QB? I mean, Gardner is a stud and C Jones, though pretty raw, seems like he has the tools.
Then again I thought it was a good idea to get trashed on a Thursday nite and eat chili dogs at 1am, so what the hell do I know?
That depends, where were the chili dogs from?
The Dog Pit - a local place here in Grand Rapids. Very welcoming of drunks.
Where in Grand Rapids? Why have I never heard of this place before?!
It's on Monroe Center, across from Rosa Parks Circle, and near the intersection of Pearl and Monroe.
I mean, it's no Yesterdog, but it's still pretty damn good.
Ritz Koney Island is pretty good, too. It's next to McFadden's on Ionia. Hopefully you know GR or this all will be jibberish to you.
Wow, I haven't been to either of those places (but then again I haven't live in GR for a while and come back about once a year). I've definitely walked by the place on Ionia before. However, I WILL NOT go back home without a stop at Yesterdog.
Funny to hear about so many Grand Rapidians. My girlfriend (who is from LA) screws up the nickname, and instead of calling it "G-Rap" she calls it "The Grand R" which sounds horrible.
Yeah, I like living in Grand Rapids. It's no big city by any means, but it's big enough for me. Downtown is usually a good time, though after a while it seems you've been to every bar a million times.
Personally, I'm not big on "G-Rap" but it's definitely better than "The Grand R"...lol
I live in Grandville but haven't been to Yesterdog either, but I have heard that it is legendary.
I also live in the 'ville (or at least I did before I graduated), and went to high school there. IMHO, Yesterdog is somewhat overrated, but the place on Ionia is pretty good.
I don't know downtown as well as I'd like, but I've got a decent mental picture of where those places are. Looks like I've got some new places to check out.
GR resident, I will agree with your assessment of the three (Dog Pit, Ritz, Yesterdog) all having great dogs. Corner Bar in Rockford as well.
I actually think I like Dog Pit the best...
Corner Bar is also awesome. Eat 20 hot dogs and they're free, and I think you get your name on the wall.
12 dogs gets you on the wall.
Munchie......could eat 12 dogs....
Back in high school, I attempted this and made it to ten and a half. I will always regret not making it to 12 for the bragging rights, but then again, I've had better hot dogs in my high school cafeteria. Seriously, the chili is fucking nasty. I wonder if the chili used for the name-on-the-wall customers is different than what they use for someone who just wants a couple chili dogs to actually enjoy them. Also, its kind of a scam, since you've got to eat 20 for them to be free. They con you into spending 25 bucks on 12 nasty chili dogs, fully realizing that there is almost no way you'll make it to 20 unless your name is Kobayashi or Joey Chesnut.
Is that right next to McFadden's? If so, I bought a couple chili dogs there just to use their bathroom. Turns out they were amazing...AND I was able to relieve myself w/o pissing in public! A win win.
That's Ritz Koney Island. It's great because they have a bar in there as well, so you can get a chili dog before the nite ends and grab one last beer.
Also a great place to drunkenly ogle the skanks that come out of McFadden's.
Yeah, just found it on street view. Pretty descent place.
Guaranteed I have seen you in there before at 3am. Awesome place - underrated. I think it's better than Yesterdog.
I 2nd this.
Suffice it to say, my day was ruined from the start. I feel very badly for anyone who used the bathroom after me.
Luckily it's Friday and has been a pretty slow day at the office.
with the obvious needs at Defense, I don't see any offensive commits, outside of OL, coming anytime soon. UM is probably maintaining contact just in case like the roller coaster that was last year's recruiting cycle.
i wonder if this is like last year when we kept recruiting QBs b/c we were worried one more commits might decommit.
I don't think that's a concern as it is doubtful Legaux ends up committing to us.
if he commits, do we move C. Jones to another position?
There's a good chance Jones would go somewhere else. Depends on how much he wants to play QB.
Munchie Legaux: Name's Top 3 (easily)
i think its like this:
That’s nice, but I love are current qb commits. I’m cool on him; although Louisiana would be another great state to recruit out of.
Just think of all the posibilities in getting this kid. You just know that players are going to be lining up to be on a team with Munchie. We would set for the rest of time. Just walk into a living room and tell a kid they will be in the same dressing room, walking the same campus, and wearing the same winged helmet just as the great Munchie Legaux did.
I'd have to believe we'd take Munchie if he committed. He is a better prospect at QB than Jones, but not as good as Gardner. I'd assume we'd let Jones stay committed as a QB and move him to a different position once he gets on campus. At least, thats what I'd do.
Most likely situation though is Munchie commits to Oregon and we don't have to worry about it.
I'd love to have this kid on campus. It would allow us to take a maximum of 1 QB next year where we could be very picky.
Barring a serious injury, I think that we are already in that position. By next year, we'll have four first and second year QBs on the depth chart.
Good point. Any chance a highly rated QB would like to come in and sit for a few years behind the Gardner and Tate/Denard show?
Said recruit would have to red shirt and hope Gardner bolts early for the NFL, right?
I think Jones would make a good linebacker with his size and athleticism.
I am proud of this website. 28 posts, and nobody has posted a "IF HE COMMITS WILL JONES DECOMMIT BECAUSE HE'S AFRAID OF COMPETITION?".
Thats probably because Jones is a low 3-star and he already had to compete with D-Gardner anyway. Besides, no one on this site has ever said anything close to people being afraid of competition...Right?

mommatheregoesthatman, meet MGoBlog.
Isn't life full of surprises?!
It's probably more because Jones likely wouldn't even have the chance to compete at QB if Legaux commits. He'd start off behind Tate, D-Rob, Gardner, and Legaux on the depth chart and the coaches would probably start whispering sweet slot/cornerback nothings in his ear.
That's because half of the posts were about chili dogs. Not too surprising, considering the recruit is named Munchie.
And for that reason (chili dogs) I nominate this thread for Thread Of The Year.
Pronounced (of French influence): Munchie Le Goh.
That's what I was thinking.
That's right- that's the French pronunciation and as one of the other posters pointed out, he has pronounced it that way himself.
I think Jones could make a decent slot receiver. I think his 40 time is around a 4.4. A little tall (6'2")for the slot but with RR he would make it work. If Jones were to redshirt and then take on the slot, some amazing things could happen there.
Mainly want shifty guys there. It just works out that the jitterbugs happen to be shorter.
out better then. He has the speed to play the slot. I thought primarily the slot was utilized by receivers 6 foot or under because they don't have the size to play the wide. But thanks for the info.
This is actually somewhat surprising. I wonder if Munchie could play other positions.
I doubt he would because Munchie is more of a pass-first QB which makes him different then C-Jones and D-Gardner. If someone switches positions, it will most likely be them and not Munchie.
Yeah makes sense. Maybe the fact that he's a pass first type of QB is why he feels comfortable naming us in his top 3.
If Robinson gets beat out by Forcier, I figure he has to switch positions unless he is going to transfer or accept sitting on the bench for most of his career. I'm already surprised that Michigan is getting so many quality looks and commits at QB. Most schools have at least one or two year gaps between highly ranked QBs. Ohio State, for example, had no 4-star QB commits in 2006, 2007, or 2009.
I'm not sure getting "beat out" means what it used to under Carr.
Two things Rich Rod always says.
1. EVERYONE competes for each position EVERY week.
2. He wants at least 2-3 guys he feels he can win with.
I know starters need more reps, and time to develop a rhythm with the team and in each game; but I could see RR really trying to utilize every weapon he can find on offense.
He might try multiple QBs per season, game, even per play.
This might partly explain why he's able to coax so much talent to come here and compete, it's not an all or nothing proposition.
First reaction: There is no way that someone is named Munchie Legeaux.
Second reaction: Pretend that there is, and that he is a halfway decent high school football player. How could he not commit to Louisiana State?
An even better question is how does somebody come up with Oregon, Baylor, and Michigan as his three schools? What could you possibly see in three totally dissimilar schools that you don't see in the other 110+?
Um, spread offense utilizing a mobile QB? Since he's a mobile QB himself, this might very well be the case.
i was just wondering about this guy a few days ago. he had totally fallen off the radar for weeks
in what manner are we still recruiting/not recruiting him?
ha! we could have a different qb for each quarter!
wherever he ends up, i've got to believe there's going to be a "legaux my eggaux" sign in the stands at some point.
Wherever he goes, you should be there with your sign. It's your idea, after all.
I'll say that ^^this^^ > What the Dileo?
Especially since it's not pronounced that way.
From FAU: Yourhighness Morgan.
Also, Providence has a guy named God Shammgod; nothing like setting the bar high.
Here are some other names from other years in the article:
Olympian Kim You Suk
1937 Pirates: Johnny Dickshot
1920's Yankees: Urban Shocker
The full list has quite a few that are pretty funny, mostly of a sexual or anatomical nature.
I'm very excited about Mr. Legaux, and I believe he could be a great addition to Michigan's team. Sure, he's known to be a good quarterback prospect, and of course there is his name (which I'm assuming is pronounced "luh-go"). But I have one reason, and one reason only, for wanting Mr. Legaux on the team -- it's so that during the Minnesota game, I can yell at the top of my lungs:
Go Munchie Le Geauxfurs!!!
(I'll see myself out of this thread)
“Right now my top 5 is currently like this: Oregon, Michigan, Tennessee, Baylor, and I’d say Southern Miss. That is in order of my favorites, so I do have Oregon on top,” says Munchie.
