So mitigating the fact that we lost last night to Air Force, not only did we as a #1 seed lose, #4 seed (but dynasty) Miami beat their #1 seed Denver, Bemidji is beating Notre Dame 3-0 tonight, and all in all, you'd be 3-5 in betting (assuming ND loses) all favorites in the first round. Not a good year for chalk in mens hockey. I guess it's just one of those years.... Obviously since the WCHA didn't have 8 of the 12 teams in the tourney.
Mitigating the hockey loss: Not a good year to be a #1 seed
And no longer want to avoid anything college hockey related until October. 4-1 Bemidji over ND with just over 10 minutes left in the third.
bemidji state fans need to riot. burn anything you can find
I'm not sure how many other people are still following the tournament, but it has been some really exciting hockey. UMD scored with under a second left and won in OT against Princeton yesterday. Then UNH scored with just .1 second left against NoDak to tie the game in regulation and scored less than 30 seconds into OT to win that game. Then Cornell made a comeback from 2-0 down, potting the tying goal with 4 minutes left and the game-winner with just 17 seconds left. Now UVM and Air Force (ugh) are in double OT after UVM thought they had won the game at the end of the 1st OT. Plust, Notre Dame is about to go down (now 5-1 Bemidji with 1:49 to go) and Ohio State got run 8-3 by BU.
It's too bad Michigan fell so quickly, but this is still a really good tournament.
Your last sentence is right on the money. I thought about giving up on the tournament after the loss to AFA, but I am sure glad I didn't. It has been one of the most entertaining one's I've ever seen.
Puck goes through the net for the game winner in 2OT.
Read that carefully. Notice that I did not say INTO the net. THROUGH the net.
I wish they would've told us that at the game. I had to go read the ESPN recap this morning to find that out. The announcer was happy to tell us as the teams were lining up for the faceoff to start 2OT that the goal at the end of 1OT had been waved off. Oh really. But when it came time to tell us how the game did end, they glossed over the details and the NCAA being the NCAA and not wanting to ever cause a crowd reaction, blanked out the ESPN replay on the screens.
A little OT venting there, don't mind me really.
That is all.
Let me get this straight:
Michigan and Notre Dame get bounced in the first round.
Vermont, Miami and Bemidji State make the Frozen Four.
I give up.
Insanity, I tell you. BU is going to be huge favorites now, which means they'll probably lose
