[Fuller/Upchurch]

Jake Rudock and Desmond Morgan

Jake, kind of tough sledding for you guys out there offensively. Just talk about their defense and what they did.

“Obviously they’re a really good defense. They’ve shown that through a number of years now and this year. They work hard, well coached, and it’s [mumbles].”

Can you put into words losing that way?

DM: “I mean, it sucks. I don’t know if there’s any other way to put it. Obviously credit to them. They fought through the final whistle and played fought the entire game but yeah, it hurts.”

Desmond, obviously you guys knew how important to stop the run was. What did you guys do to take that away from them today?

“Just played. We didn’t really change anything up too much. You know, we knew that they had the ability to run the ball out of some personnels that normally indicated pass so we put in some things to address that but other than that we just played our base defense.”

It’s obviously a disappointing loss, but just given what you guys have shown this season is this something that you feel like is going to snag you the rest of the way or is this something that really can serve as motivation?

JR: “Can’t let it snag you. Just have to learn what we can learn from this game. Look and remember it’s one game. Obviously it’s very disappointing and hard to look at anything else right now but yeah, you’ve just got to keep fighting. Can’t let one loss lead to two.”

Is there any consolation knowing that it did come down to a fluky play, that you guys did play well enough to win this game?

JR: “As far as I’m concerned a loss is a loss regardless of what happens.”

Jake, any thoughts on maybe some missed opportunities? You had possession right before the half on their side of the field. Is this the type of game where you think about series that might have gone differently?

“Right now I can’t really address that. Obviously every series you want to go down and put points on the board, but that’s not going to happen. That’s not realistic football, so obviously we’ll see on film what we can improve on.”

Skunkbear is an actual nickname for actual wolverines.

Just like Thermopylae is an actual place where Xerxes's massive Persian army slaughtered a Greek army of approximately 7000 at the Hot Gates, including a last stand by 300 Spartans (and also, conveniently ignored for narrative purposes in modern retelllings, 700 Thespians and 400 Thebans).

I love all the trolling from MSU friends and family. It's ALL they have. I would be really bummed if they weren't obsessed by our program and they moved on to the next opponent already. They can't help themselves because they are State. No need to engage them or retaliate. We are Michigan. Our tradition will never disappear. The truth is that they are not a national program and they are not our rivals. They have a great coach that has put them in the national picture. They are our in-state rival by default. They didn't care about beating us, hoping we lose every game, or national championships before he came along. And when he leaves, what happens to their program? Let them have their moment.

To some extent (a great extent I think), the team follows the lead of its Head Coach. They both handled the presser as well as is possible IMO.

Men have to be men and deal with adversity. It is good to be able to handle a press conference with the weight of a crappy loss hanging around your neck. This builds strength of character. No crying in your milk allowed.

Something I had forgotten and makes MSU's last few games make sense: MD has gone back to over-preparing for Michigan. They probably spent little/no time on CMU, Purdue, AF, Rutgers.

They won their Superbowl.

I was just told sparty owned us all game long.

strange, how we lead from the first score until :02 on the clock.

Their offense did what it wanted all game long, cook picked us apart.

Apparently they never wanted to take the lead.

Cooks most productive plays were the two where we had blown coverage assignments, the TD and the 75 yd fullback pass.

trailing the entire game and winning on the other teams error is owning your opponent in east lansing.  be happy with that gift sparty, you won't get one like that again.

by Dantonio casually dropping the 'little sisters' phrase into his post game interview, and the 'where are the Wolverines now?' in Michigan Stadium. HIs insecurities and hypocrisy over the 'respect' issue grate on me, and I'm sure most of you. Why does a head football coach feel the need to have this rhetoric toward opposing fans and players? Those are just a couple of examples of why he is outclassed by so many other coaches. While his record is outstanding, his pettiness casts an ugly shadow.

Dantonio used the phrase passive aggressively by indicating that they were not the little sisters in the conference. The insinuation was that Michigan is the little sisters. It was a coy and manipulative slam on Michigan, during which he touted his record of winning 11 games several times and the whole respect issue. Pathetic and without the class one should expect from head coach.

Dantonio doesn't understand why he gets no respect.

We all know he's a good football coach. The reason no one respects him is that he is a classless, crybaby, douchebag.
