I'm not sure if the glimmer of hope Forcier offered at the end of the game made its ultimate conclusion any less painful. At least before the Wonder Kid led that final effort I was content with the game just sucking. Afterward, however, I felt myself wanting to believe again only to have that burgeoning faith crushed by some hope-hating cynical life energy. At least our degrees mean something (the requisite sad Michigan attempt to feel better about a painful loss).

People need to calm down. We knew this was coming, at least, anyone paying attention did. That being said, yes, it sucks to lose to sparty but there is a lot to be happy about. I wouldn't let this loss affect that good feeling we all have about this season.

Tomorrow's a new day. At least we have hope this season.

If we continue to compare this Michigan team to Notre Dame of last year, there are a few similarites that aren't looking good for UM.
Notre Dame 2008 started 4-1 with a home win over Michigan and an away loss at MSU. They preceded to go 2-5 the rest of the season, lowlighted by a loss to Syracuse.
Michigan 2009 started 4-1 with a home win over Notre Dame and an away loss at MSU. Hopefully we will do better than Notre Dame did.
Hopefully.

We have something they don't, a coach with common sense.

Purdue, Illinois and Iowa are very winnable. Del State is a win. That leaves PSU, OSU and Wisconsin as question marks. I'd bet a 4-3 finish making 8-4 at the end. I'd be happy with 7-5, anything better is gravy. We're getting better and I believe in the coach and his way of doing things. Our best is still ahead of us. And think of this too. Yes we lost, but come on, that finish in the 4th qtr was just incredible.

We knew this was going to happen at some point. They weren't able to run behind an offensive line missing perhaps its most important member.
Still, POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP. POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP.
If someone would have offered me 4-1 with an overtime loss on August 15th, I would have taken the offer and run away giggling. Must keep perspective.

We have to keep sight of the fact that Tate may be unfreakingbelievable, but he is still a freshman as as most of our key players. We are much better than last year. We have a good team. We're going to be in every game. But as someone else said in the chat, most of the alumni will have coronaries by the time this season is over. It's going to be on edge live and die the rest of the way. Me, I wouldn't trade this season for the world. It has been fun as hell. We have 6 more games before the big one. Here's hoping we can put it all together for that one and send Pryor back to Ohio with that WTF look he had after USC!

Has anyone seen Brian since the game? No new content... I'm getting worried. Should we organize a search party?

He doesn't normally post until Monday ~11am after games. Last week had some things come up faster. The break time after games is meant for reflection so posts aren't written stupidly in emotion lingering from the game.
