Michigan State Highlights
Chris of Dangerous Logic must be hopped up on goofballs to shoot this out so quickly, but we all benefit:
Drew Dileo is The Threat. It is done.

Ryan made them look like bowling pins. He actually took three Spartans out of the play. Two of them flattened. With Ryan looking for more guys to hit.
Anybody notice our formation on the spike-play right before the winning field goal? (@7:06)Looks illegal. I see Denard under center, and Toussaint as a single setback. And everybody else on the line. Two of the guys should have been off the line, right? Would a five-yard penalty have made a difference on the kick? As it turned out, no; Gibbons drilled it with plenty of leg. But would we have put in Wile at the end, to kick a 43-yarder instead of a 38-yarder?

I think the 'number of guys on the line' rule is a minimum, not a maximum. So we had more than the usual number of ineligible receivers for that play, but being a spike it wouldn't matter.

There is no maximum, so Michigan was simply playing it safe by putting all of their players on the line. The exact wording of the rule is that at the snap, "No more than four players may be backs" (Rule 7-1-4-a-1).

I missed Woodson at 3:22 while I watched the game.
The situation reminded me of the catch.

I thought the exact same thing seeing the play live, wondering which DB (answer: not found) was athletic enough to sky and reenact the most impressive play of Chuck's career at Michigan.

I've been a Michigan fan almost 60 years. Every 25 or 30 years State rises up and has a good run for a few years. Then they sink back to the middle of the Big Ten.
That was a great clutch drive and final pass by the QB they denegrated so badly. Go Big Blue!!

It was not a pretty win but --- hey we beat the Sparty!
I would give credits to Dantonio and Narduzzi. They built some good defense.

And Sparties are still complaining about that call. It was an outstanding play, and I was surprised by the first down at first, because he did look a half yard short, but after watching the replay, it was obvious first down was the right call.
A lot of people complain about Denard's shortcomings, but the dude is a fighter and a winner, and I'm glad he's our QB.

like the O line was springing both Denard and Toussaint pretty well in the second half, something of a vindication for Borges in sticking with sticking it to the MSU D line. The game was just so damned tense that I couldn't really appreciate the great plays even when we made them.

Also, not goofballs. Rather, my private blend of Drano, bleach, and JP-4. Shaken, not stirred.

What kind of trickeration was being dialed up there??

for the prompt posting. I had to leave at the half for a wedding (so rude) and it was great to watch highlights champagne-infused late night. It being the morning after and all, I just wanted to say thanks for getting it up so quick.

Also love the call on the last pass to Dileo. "Robinson... has all day... hooks up." Heh.

At about :45 into the video, the commentator accidentally says "Michigan Staee" and then corrects himself. Hilarious.
