From all of the legit complaints about the refs
To the 50-50 calls and non-legit complaints about the refs
To the 5-6 deflected passes going up in the air but never bouncing to our guys
To the final play landing straight in MSU's arms

The only ones I remember were a couple of our passes being batted and falling harmlessly and the recovering the fumbled kickoff

Lots of unlucky going on.

The 1990 game had a similar devastating end, but that loss was actually worst in my opinion as we were ranked #1. This team is headed in the right direction, and I'm sure they will bounce back. So proud of this team.

The only play that was almost as stupid was the Devon Gardner INT to the ND defensive tackle in our end zone...but that didn't matter because we all hadn't just breathed a collective sigh of relief like we had just won something really important and could now talk shit for the next 365 days FOR A CHANGE

I'm hurting ever bit as much as any of you. Since I've been watching/following Michigan football since the early sixties, maybe I'm hurting a bit more. 

Basically two very even teams played heads up football. Admittedly Michigan got more bad/questionable calls/non-calls but that is to some degree on the margins.  

Michigan had the game "won" but had not put it out of reach and made a mistake. Shit happens. Had it been a nine point lead the mistake would not have mattered. There were any number of mistakes or non-team factors that put Michigan in that position. 

In the end Michigan played a hell of a game, and lost on the margins. The team has come a lomg way and will go much further. I'm proud of this program (although I doubt they care at all).

I was a few rows from the punter. I couldn't believe it. But I don't feel that bad. We played better. Stopped them twice in the 4th. We need to make a few plays. Next year we would have a better QB and we will win this thing in their house. I enjoyed the game regardless of the outcome. A little sad and still stuck in the traffic. But not mad. I like how we competed. I still believe in Harbaugh. He will bring us to the promise land. Sparty can kiss my a**. Lucky bastards. Moving on to OSU.

The lack of a fully equipped QB is the only thing holding them back. If the QBs were switched, Michigan wins in a rout.

The officiating was horrific.  No 50/50 call went against MSU.  The targeting call was insane and led to 7 points,  The Willie Henry late hit was questionable at best and led to 7 points.  Did they even blow the whistle?  Jake Butt made that catch, which may have been a first down.  Every freaking close call was reviewed, and invariably went for MSU.  

And yes, the MSU player made that catch and it was a poor call by the officials.  But so what?  Since when does every fucking call get reviewed?  Every bad call against Michigan was allowed to stand, but it almost felt like the officials were on a mission to make sure MSU got every benefit of the doubt.  Did a bad call go against MSU the entire game?  Anything?

Rudock cannot make an accurate pass beyond 20 yards.  It's killing this offense.  I'm not down on Rudock.  He is what he is.  If Shane were better, he'd be playing.  Blame Hoke for no QB worth starting on the roster.

And Michigan's defense breaks down for the first time all year.  Unreal.

And Connor Cook dropping in perfect passes into 1 inch windows. 

And despite all that Michigan should have won.  Just think what will happen when Michigan finally has pro caliber QBs and WRs on the roster again.

MSU got very, very lucky today.  God basically intervened to help them win.  And they know it.  They better hope that Dantonio doesn't skip town to South Carolina.  He knows the score and knows the days of dominance are over.  

Enjoy the win, MSU.  You will get very, very, very few in the future.  There is no Connor Cook to drop perfect passes into 1 inch windows next year.  And I can't imagine God is going to help you out again with insane officiating and lucky bounces.

We were all prepared to celebrate the win.  And then that happened.  But even if we won, if we were honest with ourselves, we would have said it's game we could have easily lost.  

We lost the running game battle that almost always predicts the winner.  We missed long game-winning passes as usual.  We scored only 3 points in the 4th quarter.  We could not run or sustain drives when it counted. 

Yes, we should have won.  But if we did, we would have looked ourselves in the mirror and admitted it was a game we could have lost.

Oh, for heaven's sake, people.  This was a terrible way to lose a game, no doubt.  One of the worst ever.

But if before the season you'd said that 7 games into the season we'd be 5-2, with both losses to (as of now) top ten teams and by a touchdown or less, and one of them a last second fluke play, only a complete idiot would have been upset with that.  This has been a fantastic rebuilding year so far, and there's every reason to think we've got a good chance at a 9-3 regular season.

Ace, I was at the Kordell Stewart Hail Mary in the early 90s. Very similar, empty, shoking feeling, although in that game we were up big and never felt like we were going to lose until the very end. This one, I never felt comfortable in the game because of how they were moving against our D and how our offense could never really move the ball consistently.

First time commenting here. I don't feel bad about that game at all, and in fact I'm really proud of how the team played. The effort on the field was light years from what I expected at the start of the season, and it put us in position to win despite some seriously frustrating calls from the officiating crew. Rudock and O'Neill both contributed to what should have been a win but for an incredible stroke of bad luck, and I'm for empathizing with them after what has to be a crushing disappointment. I'm sure folks have some feelings to vent here too, but saying that this player or that player lost us the game - seems quite poor to me. 

Anyway I'm happy for what the team accomplished and I'm looking forward to the next game. To be sure, I did shamble around the house in a daze for a good ten minutes going "what the hell did I just watch," "did that really happen," "is this even real," but I'm good now. For those seeking advice on how to cope with what just happened: I recommend a childhood of rooting for Cleveland sports teams, where this is how all the most important games end.

Born in A2 in 65 to Clevelanders.  Moved to the Cleve in 1970. First Indians game 1970. First Browns game 1978. First Cavs game 1979. I was there when John Elway marched 98 yards to beat the Browns in the playoffs in 86.  As a member of the MMB, I saw the Tigers win the World Series in 1984 and even as it was great fun, I knew it wasnt my team.  I watched the Indians lose to the Braves in the 1995 World Series 1-0.  I also watched them lose to the Marlins in teh first game of the 97 Series.  Of course they lost in 7 in the 9th inning.... In my FIFTY YEARS no Cleveland professional team has won its championship.  No other city can match that "claim to fame".

Yeah, the travails of the Michigan fan are long and hard.  But, woe to be a Cleveland fan....

Yep, I was a bit too young to appreciate Red Right 88, but I've seen the rest of it. I'd say the Marlins series loss was my least favorite - partly because that Marlins team was then promptly dismantled, but mostly because the way it happened was so predictable that it might as well have been scripted.

I'm still catatonic.  What a terrible way to lose a game.  

The sun will rise tomorrow, and this team is far ahead of where we thought it would be and the players.played hard and took.it.to.State, this one hurts but I'll hope they build off.it.  we learned the defense is still good, but the offense isn't going to.win.us a game, nothing we did t know before.

Think it's time to.check out of sports for awhile, but I'll look.forward to checking back in for the Minnesota game(just don't want to spend any time reliving this one).
