Michigan To Play Oklahoma In Rather A While
weird combo ND/Michigan tradition: check
Via official site:
Two of college football's most storied programs will meet for the first time in regular season history when the University of Michigan and the University of Oklahoma play a home-and-home series during the 2025 and 2026 seasons, announced jointly by the two institutions today (Monday, July 14).
Hooray. I'll probably be able to take a self-driving car to the away game, but hooray. That's the first game scheduled in the post-ND era that comes close to replacing Notre Dame in terms of appeal. Unfortunately, it arrives 11 years after this year's finale.
I'm going to be 30 years old when this takes place. My God.
from personal experience, you can make it to 30 on a diet of coffee, Fig Newtons, and cigarettes.
eyeroll in your direction sonny
We need to leave an MGoBlog Time Capsule for the future viewers of this game so they can see how we used to live, work, and play.
I will start with this:
Dear Future mgobloggers. It is the year 2014. In this time, we only discuss uniform changes in one or two threads per day while we mainly focus on Michigan sports. I imagine to people of your time that this is quite shocking, as I imagine that at the increasing rate we are discussing sock changes that people of the year 2025 focus on uniform changes normally and only discuss "foot ball" in the fashion off-season.
Please give my regards to Michigan Uniform Department Director Dave Brandon and say hello to Fred Jackson for me.
This is much better than seeing Miami (NTM) or Utah. I like seeing actual competition in non-con games. I was excited to see the Bama game when it showed up on the schedule. I just hope this on turns out a little better.
It's already better. It's home and home. Ann Arbor and Norman. Not sold off to some soulless NFL dome for cold hard cash.
That was depressing to watch it in that stadium.
Even though it was against Alabama, it had the look and feel of a Tuesday night Bowl game in late December, sponsored by a company you have never heard of before.
The NCAA will be dead as the entity we know it. The major college football powers will have broken off and Michigan and Oklahoma will probably be in the same conference.
By then Michigan football games will all look like a Super Bowl halftime show.
awesome can't wait should be an epic series. Over/Under on whether either of the 2 current head coaches are still around for it?
Any coach with 10+ years at the same school is an anomaly now, probably more so by then.
I just wish it was Sooner
HaHaHa I get it
But I do agree with you. We need better quality opponents on the schedule sooner as well as later. Sounds like Brandon was listening to the complaints but unfortunatelt is not working to get the big boys on the schedule in the near future. Still glad though.
This is really cool...but...
I am stationed in Oklahoma NOW. I can't imagine living here in12 years. I will just have to retire within driving distance from Ann Arbor.
For perspective, my baby girl will just be starting junior high when this game is played. I will be part-robot by then!
But this is great. Always fun to match up storied programs.
is Shirley Jones....in the musical.
We could be part of the Big12.
I'll be 65 by then. I hope Michigan schedules some good games in the 2030s during my retirement years.
It is great to see OU being schedule. Great traditional power house that has done fairly well under Stoops. Not sure if Stoops or Hoke will be coaching by then?
I went to graduate school at OU but have always been a big Michigan fan since childhood.
Excellent! I actually have a good deal of respect for OU (I've got a few friends working in OKC) and have always wanted to play a program like theirs.
I'll be in early retirement and likely on my first set of artificial knees.
And maybe one of Delaney's clones will have annexed Oklahoma into the B1G by then.
Great news!
