"I still think people know I put up decent numbers without playing a second on the [power play], but yeah, probably defensive guy is right, and it's fine," Hagelin said Monday. "I know what I'm made of and I know what I have done offensively in this League while playing a defensive role. I'm confident I can do a lot of damage offensively."
I haven't played NCAA in a few years--does anyone know if the actual zone read is incorporated? There's a similar looking play in there called the "QB Choice", but does that include leaving the backside DE unblocked and reading him, as a in a true zone read? The blocking assignments in the playbook don't seem to indicate that, or any zone blocking for that matter. All the run blocking seems to be either straight ahead or pulling guards.
I believe in '08 the zone read is blocked correctly, at least as to the DE you're referencing. That said, I've found different reads that make more sense in the game, so I haven't focused on the DE in awhile.
