Merrill Muppets Comment Count

Brian

Complete domination obscured by thousands of horrible pinging sounds and late-game terror until the world's dumbest penalty, and then more late game semi-terror, resulting in awe at a guy who doesn't show up on the scoresheet at all. JMFM. Definitely best freshman defenseman I've ever seen. Possible additional superlatives might be warranted. Muppets.

And you can't have one without the other…

Quick, everyone look up transport to St. Paul.

The team looked great. Best I've seen them play all year. This is certainly the right time to do it.

That game could have been a blowout but Howe played a great game.

GO BLUE! FROZEN FOUR!

this team falls under the category of "team that is not expected to do well but overachieves" -  much better than the "very talented team that chokes in round one"

i love the heart they have - must be what is keeping them going

Congrats to the Icers!  I'm by no means a big college hockey fan, but caught part of the game today and loved what I saw.  Team isn't just Hagelin and luck, and Merrill really impressed.  Hunwick deserves a huge amount of credit for turning away the shots he saw, and hopefully he'll continue to play on his head in St. Paul.

So right now, both the BBall and Hockey teams have surprised/exceeded most reasonable expectations - come on football team, 13-0!

I know most fans were't happy that the games were here in St. Louis, but I loved it. I moved here 6 years ago and haven't been able to see a Michigan hockey game in what seems like forever. I drive to just about every football game, but can't get myself to do that for basketball or hockey. It's been a great weekend watching them play and tonight they played a hell of a game. It was also the shit to have the band there next to my section. Everyone from St. Louis said that having them there made the atmosphere so much better. Now on to the Frozon Four!

Stuff on Grand or Selby: fun

Stuff downtown: in my experience, not particularly fun

Stuff in mpls: well, we all know that that's the better city anyway. But don't go downtown, because downtown is dumb

I haven't been to Yost in many years.  But I drove up to AA to see the Big Chill, and I got to see them play these last 2 nights.  It's been a Hell of a run, and there's only 2 more games to go.

GO BLUE.

JMFJ should be always reserved for JMFJ. His and Merrill's games are so different. JMFJ would simply awe you into respect with his physical play, offensive talent, and multiple OMG moments. Merrill ismuch more cerbral, cautious, and solid in his play overall. Both deliciously dominating but different in how it is acheived.

If you were to compare the two, Merrill is Nick Lidstrom to JMFJ's Chris Pronger. You would want both but they are distinctly different, kind of like comparing a hand crafted Belgian Trappist Ale to  Arrogant Bastard. One sooths your pallete with a smooth finish, the other slaps you upside the head and says, "Damn I'm drinking strong but good beer"

Perhaps we need to find the Swedish translation of "Mutha fuckin" so as to apply it to Merrill's Lidstrom-esque superiority.

Just got back from STL: ~7 hour drive with my lead foot, time change and Indiana/Illinois' lack of enforcement

Googled St. Paul-Ann Arbor: ~12 hours. I'm sure I can cut that down to 9-10 between my speeding and the time change!
