Scout is reporting that McGuffie signed transfer papers with Rice.
Did anyone interest in him? I though for sure he would end up at one of the better Texas schools.

Rice has great academics as well.
McGuffie is from a suburb of Houston, which is where Rice is located. Makes sense being that is a very family-oriented person.
And Rice is one of the 15 best schools in the country.
Demolition won the WWF Tag Team titles, too!
the f'ing New Age Outlawz are the Tag Champs!!! Speaking of pro wrestling, I'm actually going to the Royal Rumble in Detroit this Sunday. I'm a loser
I'll see you there.
The Killer Bees, bitch!!!
Rice is equal if not better than Michigan in many academic areas, and is the closest D1 school to McGuffie's home. He did have some early interest in Rice during his original recruiting as a junior. This is a great choice for him. Its close to home and Rice has shown signs of life as a football team over the last few years, including co-champs of the western division of the conference.
If anything his propensity for concussion should drop immensely in CUSA.
I think this is a good sign that hes going to Rice because it proves to the doubters that McGuffie wasn't full of shit with transferring. He was having family problems and said he wanted to be close to home. Rice is the perfect choice for his situation. Its less than 30 minutes from his home, its a great academic schools, and because of his concussion issues, Rice plays a less intense schedule...aka...against smaller, less talented players.
I know Rice has outstanding academics. I just though he would have ended up at one of the Texas schools with a good football program.
I guess I'll have to get the ESPN game plan if I want to watch my man crush.
AXE and SMASH RULE!
His final two last year were Michigan and Cal. Obviously academics are important to him. The Texas schools can't really compete with that kind of standard.
even I admit UT is a decent school. It is, however, not as close as Rice, and the getting concussed problem would continue unabated there.
I'm not sure how much the "getting concussed problem" will be remedied by going to a smaller conference. McGuffie suffered his first one against Toledo.
when it comes to McGuff all you guys are big pussies. OH he's such a family-oriented guy, OH he went to Rice cause they have such great academics. if this were anybody else you guys wouldn't give him the same type of love.
if justin boren could jump people, i still wouldn't like him. mcguff wanted to stay blue but had issues, so he went home. i have no reason to hate him, he's very exciting to watch. maybe if other transfers like avery horn could even make it on the field, i'd have nothing but love for him too.
it's always a lovefest when we talk mcguffie. who cares, the kid left. where are the message boards regarding artis chambers? or zion babb?
they weren't tiny, human-leaping, fan favorite running backs
I'm sure part of it has to do with the fact that Babb and Chambers weren't big contributors on gamedays.
That being said, I will continue to insist that McGuffie is loved so dearly largely because he's a white running back.
omigod you know me so well
....Rice has gone to as many bowl games as Michigan has in the last 3 seasons.....in the present day, its actually a pretty good program.
Perhaps if tamu was not such a mess, he would have re stoked his interest in college station.
Isn't this news about a month old, however?
I wish Sam well, but I never did grasp why so many folks latched on to this kid as their favorite UM player.....he showed flashes, but IMO, has a long way to go before he's a good D1 player.
that A&M passed on him after he failed a physical. The concussions scared the Aggies off.
Rice is the best place to transfer because, while having a mediocre-to-good football team that runs all the time it also has the academics to save McGuffie's post football life should his career be cut short.
Jarrett Dillard and his NCAA record receptions, touchdowns receptions, and receiving yardage would like to discuss this "runs all the time' concept.
Yes, I forgot they were running a pass spread now. Traditionally an option team.
