Talk about the game, etc. I'm sitting at home doing math homework and watching the game. Distract me, talk about how small we are, praise Air Canada, and the like.
MBB vs. Purdue
Ugh, what an awful starting lineup. What an awful start. Does John Beilein go out of his way to make the smallest lineup possible?
LLP continues to suck. Where is Shep!?!?!?!
a bucket. What happened? I guess that's the reason he left AZ. I thought with him practicing with the team, that he would be in rhythm. Maybe next year?
I like the defensive intesnity
the only thing keeping up in this game is purdue's suck
harris has looked confused and lost the last few games
sheppard!!! what the fuck is he doing out there???
With Merritt never looking for his shot, whenever he is on the floor it's a 4-on-5 situation for the Wolverines.
Shep with a nice three as well.
gibson can fly!!!!!
Way to go 2nd unit!!!!!!!! Great job!
holy shit, we look like a D-1 bball team again
I swear there HAS to be a conspiracy in the B10 against Manny Harris. The kid gets manhandled every game and gets next-to-no calls. He tries so hard and gets nothing for it. It's gotta wear on him.
Meanwhile, every ref in the nation sucks Hansbrough's cock every game to the tune of at least 10 FT attempts...a lot on bullshit calls. It's disgusting watching a UNC game on ESPN, nothing but a Hansbrough-lovefest.
Yep, it's ridiculous. I just hope JB is telling him to keep taking it to the hole and at the same time he's in the officials ear about how ridiculous it is that Harris is getting raped anytime he touches the ball.
take it back. shep is surprising me right now. lets hope he keeps it up. now only if wright could get his head out of his ass!!!
Shep can be a quality scorer inside for us if given the chance. He's a good finisher in the paint, we just have to find looks for him. We'd have a nice lead if we could shoot a decent percentage from trey land.
Sims and Harris should practice dribbling around cones. Their ballhandling is just awful.
harris is 100x better than last year, i would hold my breathe when he would put the ball on the floor
if michigan wasn't playing i would call this game the most boring basketball game ever, since they are it's just one of the most boring basketball games ever. we're not going to hit 30 before the half
Hey, we beat UCLA by a score of 55-52. Anytime we're in the game with a strong opponent, it qualifies as an entertaining game.
for most of the first half it was both teams running up and down the court turning the ball over and missing shots *yawn*
wow, weird end to the half, i'll take it
Yeah baby! Way to turn that half around Blue!!! Need to keep the intensity up and cut back on the turnovers next half, but given the half Manny had and the fact that we have a lead, you gotta love the result so far.
So true. If we would take a breath and make sure we've got a handle on the ball after steals, we'd have at least a few less turnovers, and the possessions that go along with them.
I'll take being up by one after a half like that any day.
For most of the season, we've taken very good care of the ball. This recent Amakeresque spike in TOs needs to stop if we're going to pull off some upsets. We can't have another 11-turnover half and win this game.
Not looking ahead or anything, but a commentator just mentioned what a great job Beilein was doing this year. It kinda made me realize that this game is on National TV and thus we'll be getting some good recognition from it. A win on national TV on the road is a pretty good way to stop the bleeding and build a resume.
Heck, even keeping it close is important.
Can you imagine if the OSU game or the PSU game was on National TV? *shudders*
Manny at the line! A miracle! :)
F this. Bullshit. Sure it's high, but flagrant!?
Fucking bull shit. Unbelievable. You can't eject a player for that. Fucking ridiculous.
A play that happens 30x a game is suddenly a flagrant foul?! It was an accident that deserved a foul, and that's it. Ridiculous.
WHOA! That is BULL!!!
Unbelievable. No way is that grounds for an ejection. You can get ejected for an accident?
manny got tossed for that??? what the fuck is wrong with basketball now???
Just when we were gonna take control of this game and get a good lead.
This is SUCH garbage! I cant believe they threw him out for that!!!
I hope coach comes out and makes a statement about this, because that was ridiculous and will probably cost us the game.
Bob Knight was correct when he said the refs would be the pontiac game changers on gameday this morning
So does this mean Harris is automatically out for the next game?
the refs are handing the game to purdue. i would love to see the foul totals
I can't believe this. He tried to clear space and hit the guy in the face by accident . . . okay, that's a foul. But an EJECTION? Shouldn't there have to be malicious intent?
No Zach Novak, no Manny Harris for the 2nd half. We are going to need somebody to step up BIG TIME!
10 fouls on Mich, 6 on Purdue
on the purdue end blows the whistle everytime down court. this is horseshit
I'm in L.A. so i stuck with the crappy pac 10 game on cbs...
i'm glad that it was chris kramer that took the elbow. i hate that fuck!!!
Well, this is about to blow up
Beilein should call a full timeout now!
Edit: Wow, big big hoop and harm from Shep
just came back. did he throw a novak elbow?
He caught the ball with his back to the basket, pivoted and swung the ball high, hitting his defender in the face. The Purdue guy got a bloody nose and temporarily went to the locker room (he's now back). It was an accident and should have treated as such - an offensive foul and nothing more.
They're acting like he's fucking Pat Tillman now too, showing his poor Mom, going ballistic every time he does anything. Fuck CBS.
These announcers didn't do too much prep on us. Merritt and Wright don't exactly look the same.
I'm so sick of Beilein waiting 1 or 2 possessions too long to call a timeout. That and the fact that this is the first game since Duke that he's let Shep play and, wouldn't you know it, he's pretty much been our most productive player.
You don't get an unlimited number of timeouts per half (as Michigan fans, of all people, should know). There's a TV timeout every four minutes. I don't see anything wrong with trying to save the timeouts until late in the game.
You have to know when the most important points in a game are. When Purdue got the lead to 6, that was basically the game. We needed to stop the momentum and keep it within reach. Instead, it's now a 13 point game and those saved timeouts will be worthless. You can't lay a blanket generalization that "its better to save the timeouts" because in some cases it isn't. This game is a perfect example.
Okay, our coach has won 500 career Division I games without knowing when the best times to call timeouts are. Makes perfect sense.
I was saying that he should have called a timeout because the game was turning ugly. It's not the first time he's tried to wait for a TV timeout. Sometimes its better to save your timeouts, sometimes not. On the road, with your star ejected and the crowd getting rowdy, the best you can hope for is to just be in the game near the end. You need to be able to dampen the momentum as long as possible to avoid a rout. That's what we got here.
He did that against Wisco too. Just because he's won 500 games doesn't mean he's above criticism. There's a reason so many people are upset that he hasn't played Shep for half of the season. He plays small when he doesn't need to because he places too much importance on the three-pt shot. He's a great teacher, but not above criticism.
What is this love affair between the CBS announcers and Purdue and Kramer??? Dude is role player and thats it! Stop treating him like he's freakin Christian Laettner, verbally making love to him!
I have to turn this game before I break something! This is SO frustrating!!!
Puls still 100% !
should be played more. just in the 2+ mins he got today he looked a lot better than gibson. gibson did one thing today and that was it.
