Colin just mentioned M-Zone while he was talking about the whole Jim Calhoun vs. random reporter incident. He was just talking about how a person in public view can't and shouldn't respond to an average person trying to provoke them, because it's not an even playing field. The public figure will always lose. His quote was "The guy at M-Zone from Michigan who e-mailed me, Do you know his name? No. You know mine!"
M-Zone on Colin Cowherd
This doesn't totally relate but it bugs me when sports talk radio hosts (namely Colin Cowherd and Bill Simonson) use the radio and repeatedly beat the same point home. There usually isn't anyone there to argue w/ them so they can say whatever they want and censure what calls come through and what emails get read outloud. Over and over they say the same thing, pause and say it again to really get their point across. It is as if they can't think of enough stuff to say so they repeat. I do not listen to much sports radio but these two stuck out at me. Mike and Mike seem to be better but there is two of them.
does the same thing. Repeats himself over and over and over and over and....well, you get it. He's usually funny, but at some point you gotta move on. Did you hear the rant on the USC kicker today benching 225# 25 times? Dude just kept saying the same thing over and over. Seriously...it was THAT important or entertaining???
Was when he successfully predicted that a High School basketball player named Lebron James would crack in the NBA under the huge hype and expectations. He said something along the lines of "dunking on pimple faced high schoolers is one thing, let's see him try that on the big stage"
Bill Siminson!! That guy has the worst opinions in sports radio. I hate how he continually beats on the Pistons. As if getting to the EC Finals every year for the last six was easy and can be done for the next six years. I fail to figure out what this guys deal is. He is a HUGE moron. I can't find anything else to listen to on my drive home so I have to listen to this guy and his 2.5 hours of advertisement and .5 hours of "content".
He never used to talk about Michigan because Lloyd wouldn't give him the time of day. I wish RR did the same thing. That guy is a moron. I seriously hate knowing that he has an audience and I hate that I actually listen as well. FML.
I remember him talking about great sports movies and taking calls from listeners. Someone called in and said "The cutting edge" was a great movie. Simonson goes on to say who cares about a hockey player turned figure skater, I've never heard of the movie. The caller was able to mention the movie then was off the line so Simonson could bash a movie he had never seen or heard of. It bothered me that someone could spout off in ignorance to a listening audience. oh well
Cowherd just can't let it go can he? Asshat.
The public figure will always lose ... when he takes content without giving credit. He must have forgotten that part.
Cowherd is often able to create compelling content for his program; sadly, though, his petty and vindictive behavior indicate that he is grossly insecure about his position and talent.
Or, as bighousechris so succinctly put it, he is an asshat.
Ironically, the segment quoted was about how there is a higher standard for public figures than there is for "average" people, and how one can get into trouble if they don't hold themselves to that standard.
Eventually, Cowherd will get himself into trouble. And nobody will want to listen to his crap anymore.
You can only burn so many bridges before you can no longer keep dry. Cowherd will be pretty wet someday.
Didn't Cowherd get in trouble like 2 years for ripping off one of MZone's bits?
I can't tell if this is super-dry unicorn humor, or if you just don't realize that's been the subject of this whole thread. . .Yeah, he did. That's what he was referencing (I assume).
I was more asking because of the time-frame - as in, why the fuck is he re-hashing this? Especially when he had to apologize, and was generally humiliated by the whole thing?
I would assume to show that he really was "right". "Look, who do you care about more now, the guy who pointed out my wrongdoing, or ME? ME! You care about ME!"
Not really realizing that we all despise him because of it anyway, I guess.
Abouth a month ago he blamed MZone for him not being able to respond to fan email. He is still bitter.
That's true, I remember that. Man, Coward sure is easy to rattle. Big win for the M-Zone guys.
