Did he get offered?
I'm assuming since he's not committed/signing that he was not offered, since he said he would do so on the spot. No real information just speculation.
Rivals mods are speculating the same thing, FWIW.
I am just guessing here but I would say that since RR knows he is a lock to get Raper he is testing the waters with other guys. If we can't get them then he will offer Raper. Like I said though that is just a guess. If nobody else out there is seeking after him though perhaps he is not as good as his highlight reel would indicate.
They want him to visit in the next couple weeks first for some reason.
I feel like we don't know the whole story here. The kid is qualified, fast, will commit on the spot (reportedly) and he's at a position of need. SUMSING IS UP.
So we're taking a really fast WR prospect and switching him to CB? Didn't we already go through this with Morgan Trent?
Good point. No fast wide receivers have ever turned into quality cornerbacks. It's impossible. We should probably stop trying.
Also, we should stop converting quarterbacks to tight end, because Jay Riemersma sucked. Come to think of it, Steve Breaston was a QB, too, and he sucked as a wide receiver.
Position changes never work.
Perhaps they want to evaluate his character, since he's had some grade problems in the past. See how he fits in on campus, mm? According to the coaches it's not just the kid's ability it's the "Are you right for michigan" as well as "is michigan right for you". Maybe that's why. But I doubt it.
Character and intelligence aren't the same thing.
they are trying to reduce the number of decommits. Any kid that says I will sign immediately if they offer, is just a little insecure about where he stands at the moment. Once he has another big year, and many more offers come in, he may rethink it. I am sure the guys are just trying to make sure there is genuine interest first.
Isn't he '09, and just hasn't signed yet?
Larry is a class of 2009 guy. The "once he has another big year" thing made me question whether you knew he was class of 2009.
Basically sounds like it's Michigan or South Carolina State.
