Lane Kiffin
And to add to that I don't think his NFL ties and influence will be as great as either Carroll's or Weis's.
I'm not sure about that. Lane doesn't have that many great NFL accomplishments, but one HUGE factor would be if Monte Kiffin comes along. All Lane would have to do is say, "My dad can turn you into Warren Sapp, Simeon Rice, Ronde Barber, John Lynch, Derrick Brooks, etc." and he could light up the eyes of some defensive players.
recruiting wont be a problem because he recruited under pete carroll, but if his dad coaches with him, i think that they will produce lots of nfl talent and get better recruits. will win nc in their era
Tennessee is a big program. His first priority will be to pick up the recruiting. Fulmer was never a great in-game coach, but what caused that program to slip in the last few years was his inability to attract top flight talent.
I personally think Kiffin will do a good job. I don't blame him for anything that happened in Oakland. He was in over his head-- not in regards to coaching in the NFL, but to being employed by Al Davis. He got treated the same way as Mike Shannahan, and he turned out to be a pretty good coach.
Kiffin's assembling a solid coaching staff. Monte Kiffin, Ed Orgeron, kids are going to go to UT to be able to get to the NFL.
Imagine if he turns it into a USC of the southeast. Yikes.
Yeah...
i wish i could get head coaching jobs because of my last name. must be nice
I thought "bsb" stood for Bill Stanley Belichick.
If not, it should. Then you could be a head coach.

I do think he will be a good recruiter, but I have no idea how he'll do as a coach. He was successful as a coordinator at USC, but he'd have to be Charlie Weis not to have been successful with all that talent.
He probably learned how to do things from Pete Carroll (not to mention his dad), but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be as good of a coach.
