As of June 2nd, Former UM recruit and current Illinois DT Josh Brent started to serve his 60 day jail sentence for DUI. Zook stated Brent is currently suspended, but he will determine his status after the legal issues are resolved.
Grady served a 7 day sentence for probabtion violation related to a DUI. His status is currently in the air, but recent stories suggest he will be on the team come fall.
Brent is a Soph. (I think a redshirt freshman) with at least 3years to give the Illini, and Grady is a 5th year senior who is the 4th string TB that doesn't fit the system.
Seems to me that RR could easily avoid negative PR and use Grady as an example to the team (without effecting the two-deep) by kicking him off the team. However, maybe family values and the best interest of one of his players is more important than avoiding even more negative publicity.
Zook, on the other hand, has a potential 2-3 year starter sitting in jail for 60 days. Will be interesting to see how that plays out... and how both are compared when final decisions on their roster status is made
