Also via his instagram. Like Bellomy and Hayes, Heitzman has a degree and fifth year to play elsewhere. He moved to tight end last year in an effort to get some blocking at that position but didn't play much; with the rest of the TE corps returning plus one or two recruits and Bunting coming off a redshirt he didn't figure to get more playing time this year.

Current scholarship count remains fuzzy since there are a number of walk-ons who may or may not have earned a full-time gig. Our current assumption is that both Glasgows are on scholarship but Joe Kerridge and Kenny Allen are first-in-line types who aren't figuring in Michigan's recruiting plans. If that's the case, Michigan currently stands at 15 slots.

These guys are leaving, and I don't see 15 offers who are actually coming in at this point. I guess the team will just be short a few spots? If so, it seems like you'd try to hang onto some of these fifth year guys, if only to have practice bodies.

WIth the count at 15, and 9 already committed / enrolled. That leaves 6 spots. Alumi96 did a great job ID'ing 13 kids that have / are visiting that we are in on (to various degree).

That means 6 out of 13. That would still be a great day, even better if the likes of Marshall / Smith / Clark / Wheatly Jr / Weber are part of the 6......

Heck that would be the Dream Team Wednesday (certainly not expecting it, but I would pass out in excitement if it did....)

If they're not really in line for playing time, let them go and use the scholarships for walk-ons if you have some misses. Allen and Kerridge I don't think have been counted towards the scholarship limit and I think having them on scholarship for a year would be a good thing.

I feel for Mr. Heitzman and sincerely wish him the best of luck at his graduate school. Ideally he receives opportunity to showcase his football talents and compete for a spot at the next level. That result just would not obtain at Michigan if he had stayed. Heitzman gave his best under trying circumstances and he will always be a welcomed Wolverine in my book. He matriculates from Michigan and that in and of itself should prove worthwhile for him.

In all likelihood, regrettably, Michigan will experience additional departures. These guys have wanted a chance at the big time since boyhood, and they deserve realistic positioning to strive for it. The players remaining will be champions at Michigan. Jimmy guarantees it.
