I just threw up in my mouth.
I cant take this anymore.
out of date
HAI GUYS I BET YOU LIKE GOOD NEWS. Troy Woolfolk's twitter:
Things just got worse for Michigan fans. Can't elaborate that's all I'm saying.
UMGoBlog's got a rumor that this is in reference to JT Floyd's ankle, supposedly in a nonfunctional state after practice today. Tom got an independently sourced email saying the same thing. Player on team saying bad news + two different sources with identical stories about what that bad news is == 99% true e-rumor.
So JT Floyd is probably done for the year. One of three freshman will start opposite James Rogers. I'm working my way through the Penn State game tape and am not sure how much this actually hurts but it's not good. Your available non-freshman cornerback on the roster is James Rogers. That is all.
UPDATE: Woolfolk is hurriedly backtracking, which may be CYA but may not. Downgrade your likelihood somewhat here. I probably wouldn't have posted this without that third bit but the two standing are melding with other stuff around the internets and this is still likely to be true.
UPDATE II: So the "out for year" bit seems unknown. Definitely out for Saturday, though.
I just threw up in my mouth.
I cant take this anymore.
Is it possible that this could work to our favor? I mean, imagine if you were a qb and you looked downfield and saw not 1, but 2 recievers wide open, then took too long to decide which one he liked better, then BAM! He gets skullfucked by Mike Martin. Maybe this is just another trick up RR's sleeve
/failure at optimism
Time to clone 2 Denards for the defense next year, maybe 5 for backup use.
Rush 8-9 guys after the QB and just man up outside or even better put 2-3 guys in cover 2 or 3 deep zone. Can't do any worse on defense now. Just say f*ck it and send the house.
Worst case they score and we get the ball back with more time to score. Best case, this actually works.
Maybe now we just line up the frosh corners and play man coverage. It couldn't be as bad as it has been could it??
OK, I have a plan.
During the 1992 African Nations Cup, the National Football Federation of Cote d'Ivoire was looking for an edge, so they employed the services of a pair of witch doctors. It seemed to work, since they won a 21-shot shootout in the finals of the 1992 African Cup of Nations over Ghana by an 11-10 margin. Then, the Federation refused to pay the witch doctors, and the stiffed doctors decided that a curse was to be placed on the team until they were paid.
For the next decade, Côte d'Ivoire went into a footballing tailspin, until 2002, when the new head of the National Football Federation, hearing that there was a curse, assembled an offering of $500, a bottle of whiskey, and a cow to the aggreived doctors, who promptly lifted the curse. Côte d'Ivoire proceeded to qualify for its first World Cup four years later.
So we're going to need $500, a bottle of whiskey (and good whiskey too, we don't want to screw this up), and a cow (Angus or better) and we should be all set.
I have aged Ripple I could donate for this cause, but I'll need it back before this Sat.
i casually sign on to see the newest anti-RR/pro-rr rants and i get THIS!?
for those who said it couldnt get any worse... it just did.
Could this get any worse??
Which is why we never ask this question!
At this point I'm arguing yes...I don't know how but it certainly hasn't stopped amhsg before
Apparently x-rays were negative and Floyd is most likely out for Illinois.
it's a blessing in disguise. Think about it - now opposing QBs will be confused about which wide open receiver to throw to. Instead of automatically picking on whoever is opposite JT, they won't know which receiver to throw to. They'll now have to go through progressions and determine who is most wide open. By the time they figure out which wide open guy to throw to, Martin will have sacked them.
Glass half full....glass half full...
So whats the line on a more complete defensive implosion the rest of the way now.
Good grief. My only response is to empty my account on Illinois +3.
What a blow. I actually liked how this kid has played at times this year.
You should have done that already.
I bet no hicks from Champaign.
But really, I mean, they literally can't be any worse. Right?
Exactly. I mean, when Woolfolk went down, we went from very likely doom to certain doom in the secondary. Now, it can't get any worse, so therefore this won't make it any worse.
With that said, I feel for JT. Hopefully he'll get better soon
FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!!!!!
If it wasn't a Tuesday and I wasn't a responsible adult I'd get hammered right now!
I thought about doing one of those posts where it just says "FUCK", but it's not worth it anymore.
Well, on the bright side, this is our opportunity to move Big #73 once again, starting him at CB opposite James Rogers, with the hope that some (screw hip fluidity and revert to) bump-and-shove-to-the-ground coverage will have the desired Woodson effect in completely taking 1 player out of the game each play...
I dont recall who did it the first time, but I think a few faces can be added :(
Just get a quick Guy to deck one of the receivers before he leaves the line.
Oh and pray a whole bunch, unless your atheists then we are just screwed (I knew being Catholic would come in handy one day).
I like J.T. Floyd. He seems like a good kid, probably could be a pretty good Big Ten player. But let's be honest: It simply does not matter with this defense. I can tell you, on very good authority, that the press corps that covered Greg Robinson at Syracuse thought he was a nice guy, but quite possibly the worst coach in the history of the Orangemen. He speaks in code, his teams always suck, and his great resume touts his defenses at Texas and with the Denver Broncos, but neither of those teams won with defense. Texas had Vince Young, the Broncos had John Elway. Does anyone even remember the defenses on those teams? And now, Robinson gets fired at Syracuse and the team is instantly better, in terms of record and on defense. I am so tired of hearing youth blamed. I am so tired of hearing Lloyd Carr blamed. The best part of this defense is the D-line -- all recruited by Carr. Has Rodriguez recruited a single impact player on defense?
The only way I keep this coach is if he is ordered to bring in a strong D coordinator and leave him be. Hell, bring back Gary Moeller, the best post-Bo coach we have had. And if Rodriguez resisted, I'd fire him and not look back. Also, all everyone talks about is Harbaugh. He's not coming to Michigan. I went to school with the guy. He wants an NFL job. We don't need someone who just wants to step to the NFL. Great coach, but he's likely headed to the Carolina Panthers. He sees his brother's success and all the fame and money of the NFL and that is his preference. Don't expect to see him in Ann Arbor, even if Rodriguez is fired.
Also, all everyone talks about is Harbaugh. He's not coming to Michigan. I went to school with the guy. He wants an NFL job.
I sincerely, truly, profoundly, thoroughly, wish Jim Harbaugh every success at Stanford and, later, in the NFL. I think that's a great match, and a great career trajectory for Jim.
Supposedly not as bad as Woolfolk, but didn't sound good.
"Once more unto the breach dear friends, once more..."
drink early and often. No need to wait for Saturday.
on Jack and coke right now
you mix Jack with anything other than ice.........That's almost criminal!
Denard, do you want to play some corner too?
I'm going to find that magic wand for RR now. Ywep. It's out there somewhere just waiting to be found.
Thank God only one ball can be thrown at a time.
I mean, the sad thing is the fans are quitting five days before the damn game is to be played. If I were a Michigan corner, I'd say fuck g rob and play tight man coverage on the line instead of that pathetic and beyond ridiculous twenty yard cushion we give to every damn receiver. Saying fuck it might work for us since all we can do is watch, but I almost guarantee one man steps up on the defense and they find a way to lay down some hits and unleash hell. Sucks that we quit on our team even though they've never quit on themselves. Having said that, I'll probably be wasted by 9 am...
I'm not physically capable of betting against Michigan, but I did get my non-UM fan roomates to go all in on U of I.
So even though I will experience nothing but sadness out of this, at least some people I know will be a little bit happier on Saturday.
Guess it's time to hold more student body tryouts. Let's send Gibson walking the halls of Alice Lloyd or Markley to find some depth at CB...
Start practicing Terrance Robinson at CB plz. Srsly.
1) AHHHHH DOOOMMMMM!!!!!
Then, thirty seconds later . . .
2) To hell with it. Its not like JT was locking anyone down. Can we really give up any more points per game? I mean screw it. How much of a step down can it be? We will find out, but its not like we weren't already screwed.
Also, I am out of booze and not happy about it!
just checked out maize n brew's suggestions for improvements for the illni game:
Suggestion Five: Bench J.T. Floyd. It's become obvious that teams are passing right at him. This despite having James Rogersas the other corner. Think about that for a second. I think something happened in the Iowa game and things just aren't right. Floyd has been burnt crispy in back to back games and teams are passing DIRECTLY at him, despite the presumption that he is our "best" cornerback. If you feel his presence in the game is necessary, move him to safety, where he can play the deep ball and support the run. But in coverage he's been a disaster recently. Until he gets his confidence back, play some of the freshmen. The result will likely be the same, but at least there's some hope of improvement.
hmm, at least one fan seems to think this isnt a problem. i guess we'll find out saturday
Put me in, coach. I'm ready to play (clapclapclapclap) today.
So, the worst defense in I-A ball is... still going to be the worst. Whatever.
I'v been drunk since Saturday anyway.
can play DB.............he's not doing much kicking these days.
He has played very hard and is someone I think will be a solid performer the next two years. But man the hits just keep on coming.
So in other words... I should apply for winter admission to a masters. My competitive sports experience consists of college rugby... and thats it. Whatever, I'm 6'3", who cares I've got untouched eligability!
I never, ever, ever would have made this image if I would have thought I would see it again so much. It was supposed to be the end, not the beginning.
He broke his ankle. He is done for the year. I have this confirmed. Neg bang away I guess
and as such will thank you for your information rather than attemping to kill the bearer of bad news.
