does any1 kno were this kids 1st official is?.. if he made any cuts.. and wen well getta visit?
I think his first visit is gonna be to Florida... and if we get a visit, I dunno. not sure, though. Check Brian's latest recruiting post
We are, maybe, his 4th or 5th visit...we are a longshot, at best.
damn... if ud have 2 say a top 5 wat do u think is wuld b?
Can I get a 15 year old in here to translate this for me?
I'll take a stab at this.
Does anyone have the slightest inkling when and where Jelani Jenkins will make his first official recruiting visit? In a similar vein, is anyone aware of any schools young Mr. Jenkins may have dropped from consideration? I'm also wondering if and when the University of Michigan will entertain the highly sought-after Marylander.
(expletive deleted) ...
Who are the five colleges or universities most likely to succeed in convincing the All-Met linebacker from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School to enroll at their institution of higher learning?
Playing in the background: ... it's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine ...

he's also set up an official with Illinois for 1/23/09 according the Rivals. TomVH noted yesterday that its not looking good for Michigan with this one, stating that he's declined interviews with him 3 times.
Declining the interviews may just be part of that.
1.Florida, his first offical
3.Michigan rumors are hes likely to schedule a visit
4 Illinois (rivals says he has a visit scheduled there)
5.whats it matter
i think he ends up at penn state or maryland... one of my buddies played with him last year at good counsel and said michigans def. being considered... who knows mayb he will suprise us with his commitment!!
He seem to beable pull the rabbit out of the hat in these situations...DAMM!
if he ends up at Illinois. Whenever we get a recruit like this I can at least understand going to PSU, but Illini? We have better academics, tradition, facilities, and will most likely be back in a title game before they will. Then again I guess you never know what is running through the 17 year old minds.
However, the Zooker works like R2 doses...he has his own brand of snake oil.
I da no may be Ta V wa no.
Haha, it took me a little while to figure out what "Ta V" was but then I started laughing really hard.
ya, wer is Ta V? Ha, Ta V, wr u at? Wa ne u ta help aa.
underarmor game selection show didn't even have michigan listed when they showed JJ. they had penn st, nd, miami, usc, and stanford listed. ???
and they showed anthony fera (kicker) as a clemson commit? i thought he decommited from UM for Penn St?
Yes yes i know espn sucks balls when it comes to recruiting.
Sorry, I was at the bar watching North Carolina play some high school basketball team, something about Sparta..or Spartans, I don't know.
Anyway, Jelani Jenkins = I have no clue. He's been very very good about keeping quiet, and putting people on wild goose chases. I think that we have a chance, but one it's early, and two I think Penn State and Florida are coming hard. So I have no clue. Like I said before, he's blown me off 3 times now for an interview, and won't tell me anything when I ask him.
On another note, Something HUGE is about to happen. I'm not reporting what it is, because of the debacle last time. BUT, something BIG is happening soon. Don't ask me what it is, because I'm not reporting it until it happens. But, if something big happens then that's what I'm talking about here.
can i ask what you mean when you say "about" to happen? as in...next week, next day, tonight, ect.?? Just to clarify, this "BIG" thing is recruiting news?
Sorry man, I'm just not going to say anything this time. You'll know when you hear it.
makes me impatient lol. Switching to bball things. I am going to be working on a magazine at CMU next semester and I may have a chance to do a feature on Trey Zeigler.
Tim Tebow is transferring to Grand Valley State to be their place kicker?
I KNEW IT!
ya Ta V ta da res-Q.
Marquis Slocum took over this thread or something.
can you tell us if it is a positive thing or a negative thing? That doesn't give away anything but eases anxiety/increases panic.
This might be a dumb question, but in respecting the rules that you laid out, can you at least tell us if it is going to be good news or bad news?
Depends on how you look at it. That's all I will answer.
Thanks. I think... ;)
randomly speculating until we actually find out..ya know, just to stay entertained
Weis is getting fired and replaced by RR.
Newsome, McNeal and Boyd are all committing to PSU this weekend? That would be lolriffic.
On a similar note, something really small and completely insignificant is going to happen in the next few hours.
I mean, it's gonna be SLIGHT! Don't ask me what it is, because I'm sworn to secrecy on pain of death and lost credentials, but if you notice something minuscule, inconsequential, frivolous, slight, trifling, trivial or negligible, that's what I'm talking about here.
Okay, fine, if you MUST know, the EPA is going to be awarded the President's Quality Award for management experience, which is like the Heisman for government agencies. You heard it here first.
(p.s. Sorry Tom. I figured I had to get you back somehow for instigating what I'm sure is now going to be a day of spamming "refresh.")
Did you know Michigan was going to beat Duke? I hope you put a lot of money on it.
Heyyy tomVH, how about just one hint? please!
My guess is there's a shakeup coming on the defensive staff.
Shafer fired. That is definitely a "depends on how you look at it" situation.
I feel like someone else would already be all over this.
Tom's sources seem to be pretty high up. He may be the first to hear these types of rumors. Remember, he was first on the scene with the McGuffie rumblings.
Now, to parse.
I doubt this is transfer news. Anything "huge" on that front would be uniformly negative. A transfer that inspires a mixed response such as a Carson Butler departure could not be classified as huge news. I can't think of any big name players whose transfer could be simultaneously huge news and inspire a mixed response.
I don't think it is recruiting news. Same principles: anything worth being huge could not inspire mixed reviews, we'd all be uniformly happy (or, I guess, really unhappy if the news was that a big recruit was decommitting).
Thus, I'd say it would almost have to be coaching-related. Any movement there would be huge if the personnel in question was important enough (e.g., DC) and would certainly inspire mixed reactions.
That's not it. The Shafer thing, but I have heard that too, I don't know anything about that right now. I'll find out more.
But that's not it.
On a side note, being a tease is lame. It's so highschool prissy bitch'ish. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your information and interviews and all the hard work you put in, but you get the point.
Moral of the story: No one likes a cock tease.
I'm not being a cock tease, and don't appreciate anyone calling me that. I said, something big is going to happen, you'll find out when you do, I'm not answering anything else.
Last time I posted information about something I knew happened, everyone freaked out and said I shouldn't have reported it, even though it happened.
It takes a lot to get me mad, but maybe the prissy bitch'ish thing to do is call someone a name on a blog for sharing information with you that you otherwise wouldn't have known.
Moral of the story: Don't ever call me a cock tease.
Except you didn't actually share any information. You just said something big was going to happen and that some people would be upset and some would be okay with it. I mean, sweet that something is going to happen, but with 0% substance what's the point? Giving a hint and it would be tolerable, at least you offered something. You know, a hint would at least be like OTPHJ, it's not much, but it's better than nothing...(ok, it's worse than nothing most of the time, but bear with me for the analogy).
Watch this: "Tomorrow, something huge is going to happen to the stock market. I can't say what, but you'll know when it happens, and some of you will be happy, and some of you won't." I'd laugh at that too btw.
Your example doesn't work - his suggestion of an upcoming event holds weight because he is an insider with good sources. None of these things are true with your stock market hypo - you have no better information than the rest of the world so your prediction is meaningless.
Tom is a (paid?) official blogger for this site, so when he says something will happen I will actually take notice. He is cautious for a reason; perhaps you remember the McGuffie debacle? It is in his discretion to decide what to share. Would I like more info such as whether it's positive, a time frame, and other information that doesn't compromise the data but gives us vague indications of what's coming? Sure. But I'll take what I can get. And if gives us something to talk (bitch?) about on the forum. We need that in the premature offseason.
Shortened version: stop bitching.
I spend all that time parsing, only to have you destroy my thesis before I even finish it. haha, oh well. Hope the news doesn't make us want to throw ourselves in front of moving traffic.
I think the Big News will be positive, I could tell by the tone of the original post. I think the follow up post that implied the News would have mixed reviews was intentional to create ambiguity. Since TomVH is the recruiting intern, isn't it safe to think it's recruiting related?
as the type to play mind games. Intentionally withhold info - yes, but I don't think he is trying to lead people in circles.
And it is not necessarily recruiting related. He has some sort of in that allowed him to get transcripts of McGuffie transfer conversations, so presumably the information could be about anything.
I'm still going with coaching movement of some sort.
rich rod gone, tuberville to ann arbor.
rr gone? because some like the change others don't.
Boyd commit and beaver/forcier decommit?
the list goes on...
That is the sort of news that would be rumbling around elsewhere. Tom's not THAT good (that I know of) - I doubt he'd get the scoop on the biggest coaching story of the year.
A 1 for 1 recruiting swap is something I hadn't contemplated though. Could be possible. I doubt the 1 for 2 swap you suggest above would make anyone happy, so I doubt it's something that big.
Neither do I.
Also I meant a 1 for 1 swap.
But I think it has to do with recruiting.
Mary Sue Coleman fired.
You're right, too much to ask.
Yes, too much to ask. Don't get my hopes up!
Whats the problem with her? Serious Q - I actually don't know.
That's a question that is a little too indepth to cover on here. My hatred of her stems from when she was trying to ruin the UM greek system, much like she did at Iowa. When I was on IFC I had a handful of meetings with here where it was clear she met with us just to say she had, not to listen to anything we had to say. Lee Bollinger would listen to students and react, MSC has an agenda and, in my experience, cares little about what the students think of her intentions.
MSC worked well with us (Phi Psi) to launch that IFC/SAPAC program. And then, she was the one who wrote to us at the Daily after a columnist went off the Greek system and mentioned that it was the Fraternities who were educating their members on date rape.
Mich didn't lack for anti-Greeks, but I didn't get that vibe from Mary Sue.
It's also suspected that she was hired because she was under-qualified. Having lost a few past presidents to the Ivy League schools, Michigan wanted one who they wouldn't poach from us.
She pissed off basically the entire law school by killing our end of semester BBQ. It had always had beer at it for years and years and years and she killed that aspect of it, even though, you know, EVERY FARKING STUDENT IN THE LAW SCHOOL WAS AT LEAST 21.
to avoid follow-up questions.
Bill Martin is retiring, Shemy Schembechler is the new AD.
This joke has gone awry, and nowhere. Poor planning on my part, but it was a play off of one of my recent posts saying how I hate all the other sites, and how they say dumb things and report things that don't make sense. Like, "wait, something big is happening, it could either happen now, or at the end of the year, or next year." This turned out to be not funny, sorry.
Are you back peddling here TomVH??? lol!
Regardless, whether a poorly planned haha or not, I will continue to MYOB until I read it from you and I will continue to sing your praises!
Thanks for being a part of this blog!
Yeah, that's what I was calling you out on. You're above that kind of Beaver-ish nonsense (though we should all get some Beaver-ish nonsense on a daily basis amirite?).
I'm a bit afraid of the fuzziness surrounding Beaver-"ish". You could be referring to Thai ladyboys.
high five brah
you totally got me. Instead of studying for law exams last night I was on here reading your tea leaves. As the author of the TomVH appreciation thread, remember that I resevre the right to make a hate thread.
In case it's not obvious, I'm not being serious and am not offended. You pwned a good deal of us and that's pretty awesome.
something big is going to happen? i hope u really are not joking. it gives me something to think about during school.
I'm not gonna say what it is, but it may involve cement mix and Tom's apartment.
