Jake Long has been named to the AFC Pro Bowl team to replace Jason Peters. I don't think it happens very often that rookie offensive linemen end up in the Pro Bowl (I have no stats to back up that statement). It seems like most offensive linemen get chosen because they've been there before and nobody really watches linemen so fans say, "Hey, I think Kevin Mawae was in the Pro Bowl before. I'll vote for him." And that happens 7 or 8 times until the guy's knees fall off.
Jake Long named to Pro Bowl
I love Jake. Now I can say i saw an NFL Pro Bowler play against my high school team.
Jake Long is my homeboy.
Good for Jake. All problems with the Pro Bowl voting aside, this is a great way for him to cap his rookie year...I'm damn happy for the guy.
Given the basketball team's recent performances, it's nice to have something to be happy about.
Was a pro-bowler his rookie year. But Jake's better. Good for him.
Is the man.
Speaking of the Pro Bowl, I'm happy to see Nnamdi Asomugha make it as well. That is a guy who is supremely talented, works his ass off, and has to play for the Raiders.
Didn't Joe Thomas go to the pro bowl as a rook? I think he may have won rookie of the year too--can't remember and don't feel like googling. Anyway, good for JL. Lloyd's last few classes have produced some really good pros.
