but what about the bike?
It's Tate
This is simultaneously not even worth posting and a huge relief:
-- University of Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez announced tonight (Thursday, Sept. 3) during the Inside Michigan Football Radio Show that true freshman Tate Forcier (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch HS) would take the first snap at quarterback against Western Michigan on Saturday (Sept. 5) at Michigan Stadium.
Brown will start at tailback, Olesnavage at kicker. Minor is "expected to play."
Please get here Saturday!

Also, you have to wonder how much the "they were very close!" was coachspeak to produce more intense competition. Either way, good to hear.
Rodriguez also said all three will see action on Saturday. So, that probably does mean they are still very close.
Life should not be a journey to the grave to arrive safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What A Ride!" HST
He's still just trying to keep the competitive fires burning for Denard and Nick the next couple of days - prepare as though you're starting, etc.
buy this either. I think the only way all three play is if whoever is playing stuggles mightily. I only see Sheridan seeing the field if the freshman just can't get anything done.
In other words, I don't think there is any way Sheridan comes in if Tate is looking decent. I do think Denard will see the field no matter what as a change of pace. I think the "I'll play all 3" line is just another way of saying RR has 3 QBs that he feels comfortable enough to put on the field at any given time - they all appear to know at least some of the playbook and are ready to step in.
when a sigh of relief is in order on news that a true freshman takes the helm. let's hope he conjures some of that rick leach/chad henne magic.
"Play hard and with great effort"
Can't we stuff him in a hyperbaric chamber or something?
No radio. Nothing of value.
"• Rodriguez announced the team's game captains for the opener: superback Carlos Brown, left tackle Mark Ortmann, defensive end Brandon Graham and punter Zoltan Mesko."
superback? Am I the only one who hasn't heard that before?
RR calls the main RB a super back because they have to do everything. At least that is what I think.
Here we go.
We'll take care of business Saturday and then Minor can carry us against ND.
the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Forcier
I routinely +1 myself in memory of em0, may he RIP

I can't imagine the anxiety Tate is going to go through Friday night. If I was in that situation, I'm not really sure how I would fall asleep. God help him, and us for that matter!

That's why I don't understand why Sheridan is supposed to play, but won't start.
Galileo was also chastised.
Dear Lord baby Jesus, lyin' there in your ghost manger, just lookin' at your Baby Einstein developmental videos, learnin' 'bout shapes and colors. I would like to thank you for bringin' Tate and Michigan together, and also that my kids no longer sound like retarded gang-bangers.
"which Will Ferrell character are you?" on Facebook!
Tate the Great!
I hope we see some of Denard at RB/ option sort of thing. I think that could be deadly....if nothing else as a decoy

UM is a train wreck. What happens if it loses to Western? Matrix IV?
I think Tate is going to get a big ovation for the first snap Saturday and it's justified.
But, c'mon everyone. Michigan is our team. If Sheridan plays Saturday, give him a big cheer of support. He wouldn't see the field if Rich Rod didn't think he could contribute (Evidence in support: David Cone.)
The team needs its fans now. Cheer them all. GO BLUE.
He may have stunk it up last year, but hey hes all ours!
When you reach the end of your rope tie a knot and hold on...
(disclosure: i actually believe what coach says about our qbs)
i think sheridan will see the field at qb, more than denard. even tate says that nick has the mental part of the position down better than anyone.
i thought sheridan would start, but i think it is a good move to put tate in to see if he can handle the pressure of being the starter. i think he can. if things go poorly for tate, he can bring in sheridan to settle things down. i know this board hates sheridan, but i think he is at least good/improved enough to do that.
if sheridan would have started and gotten us into a mess, it would be tougher for tate to come in and "rescue" us. also, allowing tate to start against WMU and get plenty of playing time should help next week.
since denard has the least reps and is the least familiar with the offense, i think he sees the least action. they will probably put in a very limited package for him. i am a bit worried that the package will be so limited that Western will be able to key in and stop him, i.e designed runs from the qb position a la feagin last year. i really want to see his speed in the open field.
anyway, i am sitting at work wearing my #5 jersey i bought wednesday night waiting for the season to start.
GO BLUE!
you have to admit, tate is not a good name for a qb.
how about joe, tom, or maybe dan?
becase being named Dan has worked so well for guys like Orlvosky

I was on Danny's high school team. I am not a lions fan, and looking from the outside his lack of any line and running threat really hurt his numbers. The lions problem was not their QB.
There is something...odd...about this. Haven't we been hearing for the past few weeks that Minor has been practicing very sparingly since he was suffering headaches from his car accident? So how is it that he wound up with a bad ankle? I'm not really suggesting a conspiracy theory, but, wow, he's kind of a dainty flower, isn't he?
On a totally unrelated note, what the hell is going on with the duck wings on Oregon's uniforms? There really are no words.
Michigan Football is life...the rest is just details.

I think that the game will be a somewhat lopsided victory for Michigan (20+ points) and Rich knows it. This is obviously why he's planning for Nick Sheridan to be the human victory cigar! I'm hoping Denard is used in the wildcat a couple times, then sucks the defense in while he bombs one for a TD. Perfect.
We can hope that this is the case, but I bet we see Sheridan in the first half for a drive. I just hope that in the second half we see the best guy on the field, and I think we all believe that is Tate. Oh, and I also want Denard to get those Wildcat snaps and use that freakish speed.
We bleed maize and blue!!!
Wait this can't be right, last week I was specifically told it was all about Denard.
RR's first season was an era unto itself. Let a new era begin with Tate!
I hope he shines: I do have a good feeling about this. It would be nice to get the QB pecking order cleared up for the sake of the rest of the O, and for the sake of practice reps.
Tate is the guy. He has been for a while.
Go Blue!

The scene through out Ann Arbor was subtitled in Hebrew?
Weird.
