The title is both a track off an upcoming Sufjan Stevens album and a rock-hard truth: for the first time in all the times I can remember, Michigan enters NSD without so much as a random three-star on the hook. They've got their 27 guys, are without late-flip drama, and we're reduced to watching Ole Miss inexplicably reel in five star after five star for reasons related to Eli Manning and apple pie*, I'm sure.

Anyway, for reasons of holy pants that basketball game and ain't nothing going on, we're forgoing our usual monstrous all-day liveblog in which I answer the same question sixteen times for a more focused one. We'll kick it off at 1 PM and go through Hoke's 2PM presser; afterwards Ace will have some thousand-foot-view stuff for the people who don't care enough to bother except on one special day every year.

Wilton Speight's hello post will have to wait for tomorrow, I think. Not that we know much about him other than "is real tall, probably knows more about Thomas Jefferson than average high schooler."

*[There's a certain faction that will cluck at you when you imply that what's going on with Ole Miss's recruiting is suspicious. SAT analogy time: Ole Miss : recruiting :: 37-year-old baseball player having career year : steroids. I'm taking this recent Bill Simmons column and applying it to a new domain. The point at which schools received the benefit of the doubt is long gone.]

Surprised you guys don't have a live blog feed going.  How goes the battle?  We have everyone signed, just waiting on RB Folston to sign and all our committs are in.  Heavy rumour is that Eddie Vanderdoes will be going Irish tonight at 5PST.

There is no moderate choice for :

"I hate you. I hate Notre Dame. Go Away. If you are too cool for a conference you are too cool to post on this board. Why are you here? Don't you have a fake girlfriend to fake act better than? Don't you have some bros to bro about with? Sweet visor, dude"

So we all just pick "offtopic."

Except that the majority of your post was about ND's class and your not-so-subtle boasting about Vanderdoes joining your class. We are Michigan fans, most of us hate ND, we are not interested in hearing about the stud players you might be landing...thus...off-topic.

ND already committed a secondary violation if/when Eddie Vanderdoes does sign by including him on their Signing Day Release before he sent in his LOI.  Pretty clear he already told the coaches and ND accidentally let the cat out the bag. A huge pull for Brian Kelly as I am surprised to see him leave the West Coast.

RT Notre Dame has informed me that Eddie Vanderdoes was mistakenly listed in the signing day press release. Has not signed

Literally, not figuratively. Watching ESPNU and when the subject of Ole Miss came up, Chizik said, "Sometimes a great class just comes together." I suppose he should know.

Remember that piece from ESPN during the Under Armor game where they basically asked recruits what illegal benefits they'd been offered?  How many of those guys were being recruited by Ole Miss?  I think it would be pretty easy to connect the dots there, if the NCAA was so inclined.

Yes schools that have zero tradition (other than epic racism /30for30 joke) and rarely if ever pull 5-star recruits, who suddenly get 3 5-star recruits in one recruiting cycle are suspect and by suspect I mean guilty of some sort of major recruiting violation. It just doesn't happen on the up and up. Never has, never will. I could see maybe one 5-star guy staying close to home or having some wild favorite, but not 3. I mean look at the Fab Five, Any Calipari class... Miami... it just never happens within the rules. Ole Miss is going to be fucked and by fucked I mean one year bowl ban and no loss of scholorships and an upgraded coaching staff and an ESPN highlite show.

Particularly when they're pulling them from out of state.

To me, this is far shadier than Calipari, (with the proviso that elite college basketball recruiting is just a morass of AAU hangers on, shoe company guys, street agents, etc.) It's an established, big name program, and he recruits guys with a pitch of "Yeah, it's ridiculous you can't go pro right now, but I'll showcase your talents for the NBA, and I know how to do it. Look at these posters of John Wall, Anthony Davis, and Michael Kidd-Gillcrest."

What's the comparable case for Hugh Freeze?

The link on MGOBLUE appears to have all the empty spaces filled in, I guess I'm just curious to see what magic Hoke pulls out of the hat at some point today.  He seems to be good for at least one pleasant surprise each NSD...

Honestly, I think good for them.  If they're going to be stuck in the dirty SEC then they might as well try to compete.

Thankfully, Michigan is in a different environment and doesn't need to go down that road.

So, Ohio pulled a great class (as well as Michigan), but I just don't understand how they can sign 25 kids (after signing 25 kids last year).  According to the Twitters, they're waiting on one more as well.  What does a scholarship reduction mean if they're signing max classes anyway?
